Abstract

A gaming machine configured to play one of a plurality of games. The gaming machine includes a display that has a first display area to display a carousel of first representations of a number of the games, and a second display area to display a matrix of second representations of the number of the games. A game controller controls the first display area to display the carousel and the second display area to display the matrix. In response to having received a player input at one display area of the first display area and the second display area, the game controller controls the one display area to highlight one representation in the one display area and highlights a corresponding another one representation in another one of the first display area and the second display area.

Claims (30)

1. A gaming machine configured to play one of a plurality of games, the gaming machine comprising:

a credit input mechanism configured to receive a credit input in the form of a physical item representing a monetary value for establishing a credit balance;

a display including 1) a first display area configured to display a carousel of first representations of a number of the plurality of games, and 2) a second display area configured to display a matrix of second representations of the number of the plurality of games; and

a game controller configured to, in accord with the established credit balance, 1) control the first display area to display the carousel of the first representations and the second display area to display the matrix of the second representations, 2) in response to having received a first player input, control the first display area to display a rotation of the first representations in the carousel, and 3) in response to having received a second player input with respect to one representation of the first representations in the carousel, control the second display area to highlight a second representation of the second representations in the matrix corresponding to the one representation, and initiate a game corresponding to the one representation including removing the carousel from the first display area and displaying text or an image corresponding to the one representation, and removing the matrix from the second display area and displaying the game in the second display area.

2. The gaming machine as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising a user interface configured to receive the first player input and the second player input.

3. The gaming machine as claimed in claim 1 , and wherein the display is a touch screen display operable to receive the first player input and the second player input.

4. The gaming machine as claimed in claim 1 , and wherein the first player input comprises a swiping action across the first display area.

5. The gaming machine as claimed in claim 4 , and wherein the rotation is incremental.

6. The gaming machine as claimed in claim 1 , and wherein the second player input comprises a tapping of one representation of the first representations at the carousel.

7. The gaming machine as claimed in claim 1 , and wherein each of the first representations in the carousel includes a compact disk jewel case.

8. The gaming machine as claimed in claim 1 , and wherein each of the second representations in the matrix includes a plurality of selectable denominations to be used with the corresponding game.

9. A gaming machine configured to play one of a plurality of games, the gaming machine comprising:

a credit input mechanism configured to receive a credit input in the form of a physical item representing a monetary value for establishing a credit balance;

a display including 1) a first display area configured to display a carousel of first representations of a number of the plurality of games, and 2) a second display area configured to display a matrix of second representations of the number of the plurality of games; and

a game controller configured to, in accord with the established credit balance, 1) control the first display area to display the carousel of the first representations and the second display area to display the matrix of the second representations, and 2) in response to having received a first player input, highlight a second representation of the second representations in the matrix, and control the first display area to display a rotation of the carousel to highlight a first representation of the first representations of the carousel corresponding to the highlighted second representation in the matrix, and, in response to a second player input corresponding to selection of the highlighted representation in the matrix and a third player input corresponding to selection of a denomination of a plurality of selectable denominations, initiate a game corresponding to the highlighted second representation.

10. The gaming machine as claimed in claim 9 , further comprising a user interface configured to receive the first, second or third player input.

11. The gaming machine as claimed in claim 9 , and wherein the display is a touch screen display operable to receive the first, second or third player input.

12. The gaming machine as claimed in claim 9 , and wherein each of the first representations in the carousel includes a compact disk jewel case.

13. The gaming machine as claimed in claim 9 , and wherein each of the second representations in the matrix includes the plurality of selectable denominations to be used with a corresponding game.

14. A gaming machine configured to play one of a plurality of games, the gaming machine comprising:

a credit input mechanism configured to receive a credit input in the form of a physical item representing a monetary value for establishing a credit balance;

a display including 1) a first display area configured to display a carousel of first representations of a number of the plurality of games, 2) a second display area configured to display a matrix of second representations of the number of the plurality of games, and 3) a bonus display area; and

a game controller configured to, in accord with the established credit balance, 1) control the first display area to display the carousel of the first representations and the second display area to display the matrix of the second representations, 2) in response to having received a player input at one display area of the first display area and the second display area, control the one display area to highlight one representation in the one display area and to highlight a corresponding another one representation in another one of the first display area and the second display area, and 3) in response to a trigger condition, control the bonus display area to change in one of size or position to display a bonus game.

15. The gaming machine as claimed in claim 14 , further comprising a user interface configured to receive the player input.
