Abstract

A windowed ejection port cover having an ejection port cover body; a window aperture formed through the body; a window element, wherein the window element is formed so as to be at least partially received within the window aperture; and a window coupling element utilized to attach or couple at least a portion of the window element within at least a portion of the window aperture.

Claims (29)

1. A windowed firearm ammunition ejection port cover, comprising:

an ejection port cover body;

a first window aperture formed through said body;

a second window aperture formed through said body;

a first window element, wherein said first window element is formed so as to be at least partially received within said first window aperture; and

a second window element, wherein said second window element is formed so as to be at least partially received within said second window aperture.

2. The windowed ejection port cover of claim 1 , further comprising a pivot aperture formed of two curved extension portions of said body.

3. The windowed ejection port cover of claim 1 , further comprising a plunger assembly aperture formed through said body, wherein said plunger assembly aperture is formed so as to allow a plunger assembly to be attached or coupled to said windowed ejection port cover.

4. The windowed ejection port cover of claim 1 , wherein at least one of said first window element and said second window element is formed of a transparent, semitransparent, translucent, clear, colored, or semi-opaque material.

5. The windowed ejection port cover of claim 1 , wherein at least one of said first window element and said second window element is formed at least in part of glass, toughened glass, sappire glass, tempered glass, safety glass, an acrylic, Poly(methyl methacrylate), a Polycarbonate, a thermoplastic, a glass-hardened polymer, a polymeric composite, a high-strength or shatter-resistant glass, a magnifying glass, transparent or semitransparent aluminum, or plastic.

6. The windowed ejection port cover of claim 1 , wherein at least one of said first window element and said second window element includes or is formed of an illuminating or illumination material, or includes one or more light emitting diodes or other illumination elements.

7. The windowed ejection port cover of claim 1 , further comprising:

a first window coupling element utilized to attach or couple at least a portion of said first window element within at least a portion of said first window aperture; and

a second window coupling element utilized to attach or couple at least a portion of said second window element within at least a portion of said second window aperture.

8. The windowed ejection port cover of claim 7 , wherein said first window coupling element and said second window coupling element each comprise a substantially “H” shaped portion of material that simultaneously allows a portion of said body to be received within a first portion of said substantially “H” shaped portion of material and allows a portion of said first window element or said second window element to be received within a second portion of said substantially “H” shaped portion of material.

9. The windowed ejection port cover of claim 7 , wherein said first window coupling element and said second window coupling element comprise an adhesive, sonic weld, physical bond, mechanical bond, or chemical bond.

10. The windowed ejection port cover of claim 7 , wherein said first window coupling element and said second window coupling element each comprise a substantially “U” shaped groove or recess formed within at least a portion of an edge portion of said first window element and said second window element.

11. The windowed ejection port cover of claim 7 , wherein said first window coupling element and said second window coupling element each comprise one or more protrusions, which extend around at least a portion of an edge or perimeter portion of said first window element and said second window element, beyond at least a portion of said first window aperture and said second window aperture.

12. A windowed firearm ammunition ejection port cover, comprising:

an ejection port cover body, wherein at least a portion of said ejection port cover body is configured to be received at least partially within a portion of an ejection port recess of said firearm when said ejection port cover is in a closed position;

at least one window aperture formed through said body; and

at least one window element, wherein said at least one window element is formed so as to be at least partially received within said window aperture.

13. The windowed ejection port cover of claim 12 , further comprising a plunger assembly aperture or recess formed through window element, wherein said plunger assembly aperture or recess is formed so as to allow a plunger assembly to be attached or coupled to said windowed ejection port cover.

14. The windowed ejection port cover of claim 12 , wherein said window element is formed of a transparent, semitransparent, translucent, clear, colored, or semi-opaque material.

15. The windowed ejection port cover of claim 12 , further comprising:

a window coupling element utilized to attach or couple at least a portion of said at least one window element within at least a portion of said at least one window aperture.

16. The windowed ejection port cover of claim 15 , wherein said window coupling element comprises a substantially “H” shaped portion of material that simultaneously allows a portion of said body to be received within a first portion of said substantially “H” shaped portion of material and allows a portion of said window element to be received within a second portion of said substantially “H” shaped portion of material.

17. The windowed ejection port cover of claim 15 , wherein said window coupling element comprises a substantially “U” shaped groove or recess formed within at least a portion of an edge portion of said window element.

18. The windowed ejection port cover of claim 15 , wherein said window coupling element comprises one or more protrusions, which extend around at least a portion of an edge or perimeter portion of said window element, beyond at least a portion of said window aperture.
