Abstract

A water feed system of a refrigerator includes a filter and water tank assembly; a first water feed pipe connecting an external water source, the filter and water tank assembly; a second water feed pipe connecting the filter, water tank assembly and icemaker; and a third water feed pipe connecting the filter, water tank assembly and dispenser. The filter and water tank assembly includes a filter; a water tank; and a valve provided at a junction of a hose connecting the water tank to the second water feed pipe and the third water feed pipe to selectively supply the water from the water tank to the second water feed pipe or the third water feed pipe. The filter and water tank assembly further includes a control valve to control supply of water from the external water source.

Claims (57)

1. A water feed system of a

refrigerator having

a refrigerating area including a refrigerating compartment,

a freezing compartment below the refrigerating compartment,

a horizontal partition separating the refrigerating compartment and the freezing compartment,

a door to open or close the refrigerating compartment,

an icemaker, and

a dispenser installed at the door,

the water feed system to feed water to the icemaker and the dispenser, the water feed system comprising:

an assembly into which a filter is insertable, the assembly including:

a filter connector to be connected to the filter inserted into the assembly,

a water tank horizontally extending, the water tank to store water filtered by the filter for feeding to the icemaker and the dispenser, and

a valve;

a first water feed line to connect an external water source and the filter connector;

a second water feed line to connect the water tank and the icemaker; and

a third water feed line to connect the water tank and the dispenser, wherein

the valve is provided at a junction of the water tank, the second water feed line and the third water feed line,

the refrigerating area includes an assembly compartment to house the assembly,

the assembly is positioned below the dispenser and the icemaker, and,

when the filter connector is connected to the filter inserted into the assembly,

the water tank is positioned above the filter, and

the water tank and the filter are arranged in parallel.

2. The water feed system according to claim 1 , wherein:

the refrigerating compartment includes first and second drawer storage containers horizontally arranged on a same plane and adapted to be drawn from the refrigerating compartment; and

the assembly is positioned between the first and second drawer storage containers.

3. The water feed system according to claim 1 , wherein:

the refrigerating compartment includes a drawer storage container adapted to be drawn from the refrigerating compartment; and

the assembly is positioned between the drawer storage container and a sidewall of the refrigerator.

4. The water feed system according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a control valve to control water to be supplied to the filter from the external water source so as to prevent the filter from being exposed to water pressure.

5. The water feed system according to claim 1 , wherein the assembly compartment is configured to allow the filter to be inserted to the assembly and to be connected to the filter connector of the assembly.

6. The water feed system according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a connector line that is elongated vertically and connects an inlet of the water tank and an outlet of the filter connector.

7. A refrigerator comprising:

a refrigerating area including a refrigerating compartment;

a freezing compartment below the refrigerating compartment;

a horizontal partition separating the refrigerating compartment and the freezing compartment;

a door to open or close the refrigerating compartment;

an icemaker;

a water dispenser installed at the door;

an assembly into which a filter is insertable, the assembly including:

a filter connector to be connected to the filter inserted into the assembly,

a water tank horizontally extending, the water tank to store water filtered by the filter for feeding to the icemaker and the water dispenser, and

a valve;

an assembly compartment in the refrigerating area and housing the assembly, the assembly positioned below the water dispenser and the icemaker;

a first water feed line to connect an external water source to the filter connector;

a second water feed line to connect the water tank and the icemaker; and

a third water feed line to connect the water tank and the water dispenser,

wherein, when the filter connector is connected to the filter inserted into the assembly,

the water tank is positioned above the filter, and

the water tank and the filter are arranged in parallel.

8. The refrigerator according to claim 7 , further comprising:

a connector line that is elongated vertically and connects an inlet of the water tank and an outlet of the filter connector.

9. The refrigerator according to claim 7 , further comprising:

a control valve to control water to be supplied to the filter from the external water source so as to prevent the filter from being exposed to water pressure.

10. The water feed system according to claim 1 , wherein, when the filter connector is connected to the filter inserted into the assembly, the filter is horizontally elongated and vertically arranged in parallel with the water tank which is horizontally elongated and cylindrically shaped.

11. The refrigerator according to claim 7 , wherein, when the filter connector is connected to the filter inserted into the assembly, the filter is horizontally elongated and vertically arranged in parallel with the water tank which is horizontally elongated and cylindrically shaped.
