Abstract

An electronic cash deposit system includes a processor that receives a user-generated request for a deposit of cash into an account, receive data generated from a scan of a machine-readable image on a receptacle that receives the cash, perform a validation of the deposit of the cash based on a correlation between the data generated from the scan and a transaction key, generate confirmation of the deposit of the cash when the validation is confirmed, and send a notification to a banking system to update the account to reflect the deposit of the cash in response to the confirmation being generated.

Claims (40)

1. An electronic cash deposit system, comprising:

one or more processors configured to:

receive a user-generated request for a deposit of cash into an account;

receive data generated from a scan of a machine-readable image on a receptacle configured to receive the cash;

perform a validation of the deposit of the cash based on a correlation between the data generated from the scan and a transaction key associated with the machine-readable image;

generate a confirmation of the deposit of the cash in response to the validation of the deposit; and

send a notification to a banking system to update the account to reflect the deposit of the cash in response to the confirmation being generated.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors is configured to generate the machine-readable image by incorporating the transaction key into the machine-readable image, wherein the transaction key is an encrypted transaction key.

3. The system of claim 1 , comprising a scanner configured to scan the machine-readable image and generate the data.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors is configured to receive the data from a server component or a mobile device.

5. The system of claim 4 , wherein the mobile device comprises a smart phone having a camera configured to perform the scan of the machine-readable image.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the user-generated request comprises a requested time, location, or both for the deposit of the cash.

7. A method, comprising:

receiving, via a processor, a user-generated request for a deposit of cash into an account;

receiving, via the processor, data generated from a scan of a machine-readable image on a receptacle configured to receive the cash;

performing, via the processor, a validation of the deposit of the cash based on a correlation between the data generated from the scan and a transaction key associated with the machine-readable image;

generating, via the processor, a confirmation of the deposit of the cash in response to the validation of the deposit; and

sending, via the processor, a notification to a banking system to update the account to reflect the deposit of the cash in response to the confirmation being generated.

8. The method of claim 7 , comprising adjusting a schedule of a courier based on the user-generated request.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the user-generated request comprises a requested location for the deposit of the cash, and wherein the schedule is adjusted based on the requested location for the deposit.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the deposit of the cash is incorporated into the scheduled based on a threshold distance between a scheduled visit of the schedule and the requested location.

11. The method of claim 7 , wherein the user-generated request specifies an amount of cash for the deposit and a deposit date.

12. The method of claim 7 , comprising confirming, via the processor, the deposit of the cash based on an image associated with the cash.

13. The method of claim 7 , comprising monitoring a location of a mobile device associated with the user-generated request, wherein the location of the mobile device is used to establish a deposit location.

14. The method of claim 7 , comprising receiving an identification of the account selected from a plurality of available accounts.

15. A system, comprising:

a first computing device configured to:

receive a user request for a deposit of cash into an account; and

determine a location of the first computing device in response to receiving the user request;

a second computing device configured to:

receive the user request and the location from the first computing device;

receive data generated from a scan of a machine-readable image on a receptacle configured to receive the cash;

perform a validation of the deposit of the cash based on a correlation between the data generated from the scan and a transaction key associated with the machine-readable image;

generate a confirmation of the deposit of the cash in response to the validation of the deposit; and

send a notification to a banking system to update the account to reflect the deposit of the cash in response to the confirmation being generated.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the machine-readable image comprises a bar code or a Quick Response code.

17. The system of claim 15 , comprising a scanning device configured to acquire one or more images of the cash.

18. The system of claim 1 , wherein the receptacle comprises a container with an electronic display configured to display the machine-readable image.

19. The system of claim 1 , comprising an image capture device configured to capture an image of the cash as the cash is disposed in a container.

20. The system of claim 19 , wherein the second computing system is configured to receive the image of the cash from the image capture device and encode the image data based on the image of the cash into the machine-readable image.
