Absorption enhancer for polyphenol
An absorption enhancer for polyphenol containing at least one kind of extract selected from the group consisting of an extract from Kochia scoparia (L.) Schrad., an extract from Acacia concinna , an extract from Sanicula europaea , an extract from Bupleurum rotundifolium , and a seed extract from Camellia sinensis , as an active ingredient.
1. A method of enhancing absorption of a polyphenol, comprising administering to a human or non-human animal or ingesting a composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of at least one plant extract selected from the group consisting of an extract from Kochia scoparia (L) Schrad., an extract from Acacia concinna , an extract from Sanicula europaea , an extract from Bupleurum rotundifolium , and a seed extract from Camellia sinensis.
2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the plant extract enhances absorption of the polyphenol from the intestinal tract into the circulatory system.

The method according to claim 1 , wherein the plant extract is administered to a person who desires an antiaging effect, a life-extension effect, a cognitive function maintaining effect, an antioxidative effect, a sterilizing effect, a treatment effect on an infectious disease, a relieving effect of an infectious disease symptom, an anticancer effect, an antitumor effect, a hypotensive effect, a blood sugar level elevation inhibitory effect, a body fat-reducing effect, an anti-fatigue effect or improvement of stamina, a treatment of diabetes mellitus or insulin resistance, and/or a treatment of high postprandial blood sugar.
4. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the amount of the plant extract administered or ingested is between 0.001 mg/kg body weight/day and 50 mg/kg body weight/day.
5. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the composition further comprises one or more polyphenols, or wherein the composition is a food or drink comprising the plant extract, or wherein the composition is a food or drink comprising the plant extract and one or more polyphenols.
6. The method according to claim 5 , wherein the amount of the active ingredient in the plant extract in the composition is between 0.01 parts by mass and 500 parts by mass, relative to 100 parts by mass of the one or more polyphenols.

The method according to claim 5 , wherein, if the composition does not comprise one or more polyphenols, a second composition comprising one or more polyphenols is administered or ingested, wherein the compositions are administered or ingested simultaneously or so that they reach the intestinal tract substantially simultaneously.
8. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the polyphenol is selected from the group consisting of epigallocatechin, epicatechin, catechin, gallocatechin, epigallocatechin gallate, epicatechin gallate, catechin gallate, and gallocatechin gallate.
9. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the polyphenol is selected from the group consisting of caffeoylquinic acid, feruloylqunic acid, and dicaffeoylquinic acid.
10. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the extract from Kochia scoparia (L.) Schrad. is an extract of the fruit of the Kochia scoparia (L.) Schrad.
11. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the extract from Acacia concinna is an extract of the root of the Acacia concinna.
12. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the extract from Sanicula europaea is an extract of the leaf of the Sanicula europaea.
13. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the extract from Bupleurum rotundifolium is an extract of the root of the Bupleurum rotundifolium.
