Abstract

Provided are a device and method for performing authentication in a wireless power transfer system. Provided is an authentication method in a wireless power transfer system including receiving a first packet including indication information on whether a target device supports an authentication function from the target device; transmitting, when the target device supports an authentication function, an authentication request message to the target device; receiving an authentication response message including a certificate on wireless charging from the target device in response to the authentication request message; and confirming authentication of the target device based on the authentication response message.

Claims (42)

1. A wireless power transmitter comprising:

a power conversion unit transferring wireless power to a wireless power receiver based on magnetic coupling between the wireless power transmitter and the wireless power receiver, and

a communication/control unit controlling the wireless power and communicating with the wireless power receiver,

the communication/control unit further receiving from the wireless power receiver a configuration packet including a 1 bit flag related to whether the wireless power receiver supports out-of-band (OOB) communication,

the communication/control unit further transmitting to the wireless power receiver a response which requests for a handover from an in-band (IB) communication to the OOB communication based on the wireless power transmitter supporting the OOB communication.

2. The wireless power transmitter of claim 1 , wherein the response is a frequency shift keying (FSK) bit pattern which includes 8 bits and is set to ‘00000000’ used for Not-Acknowledge (NAK).

3. The wireless power transmitter of claim 1 , wherein the response is a frequency shift keying (FSK) bit pattern which includes 8 bits and is set to ‘10101010’ used for Not-Defined (ND).

4. The wireless power transmitter of claim 1 , wherein the response is a frequency shift keying (FSK) bit pattern which includes 8 bits, and

wherein four bits in the bit pattern are set to ‘0’ and the other four bits in the bit pattern are set to ‘1’ used for Request For OOB (RFO).

5. The wireless power transmitter of claim 1 , wherein the response is a data packet for the handover to the OOB.

6. The wireless power transmitter of claim 5 , wherein the wireless power transmitter proceeds to a handover phase after the communication/control unit transmits the response to the wireless power receiver, and

the wireless power transmitter proceeds to a negotiation phase based on the communication/control unit receiving from the wireless power receiver an Acknowledge (ACK) response to the data packet.

7. A method of data transmission performed by a wireless power transmitter, the method comprising:

transmitting a ping signal to a wireless power receiver based on an in-band communication which uses a frequency used for wireless power transfer;

receiving from the wireless power receiver a configuration packet including a 1 bit flag related to whether the wireless power receiver supports out-of-band (OOB) communication; and

transmitting to the wireless power receiver a response which requests for a handover from an in-band (IB) communication to the OOB communication based on the wireless power transmitter supporting the OOB communication.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the response is a frequency shift keying (FSK) bit pattern which includes 8 bits and is set to ‘00000000’ used for Not-Acknowledge (NAK).

9. The method of claim 7 , wherein the response is a frequency shift keying (FSK) bit pattern which includes 8 bits and is set to ‘10101010’ used for Not-Defined (ND).

10. The method of claim 7 , wherein the response is a frequency shift keying (FSK) bit pattern which includes 8 bits,

wherein four bits in the bit pattern are set to ‘0’ and the other four bits in the bit pattern are set to ‘1’ used for Request For OOB (RFO).

11. The method of claim 7 , wherein the response is a data packet for the handover to the OOB,

wherein the method further comprises:

proceeding to a handover phase after transmitting the response to the wireless power receiver; and

proceeding to a negotiation phase based on an Acknowledge (ACK) response to the data packet received from the wireless power receiver.

12. A wireless power receiver comprising:

a power pickup unit receiving wireless power from a wireless power transmitter based on magnetic coupling between the wireless power transmitter and the wireless power receiver; and

a communication/control unit controlling the wireless power and communicating with the wireless power transmitter,

the communication/control unit further transmitting to the wireless power transmitter a configuration packet including a 1 bit flag related to whether the wireless power receiver supports out-of-band (OOB) communication,

the communication/control unit further receiving from the wireless power transmitter a response which requests for a handover from an in-band (IB) communication to the OOB communication based on the wireless power transmitter supporting the OOB communication.

13. The wireless power receiver of claim 12 , wherein the response is a frequency shift keying (FSK) bit pattern which includes 8 bits and is set to ‘00000000’ used for Not-Acknowledge (NAK).

14. The wireless power receiver of claim 12 , wherein the response is a frequency shift keying (FSK) bit pattern which includes 8 bits and is set to ‘10101010’ used for Not-Defined (ND).

15. The wireless power receiver of claim 12 , wherein the response is a frequency shift keying (FSK) bit pattern which includes 8 bits, and
