Abstract

A heart valve replacement device for endovascular repair is provided. The heart valve replacement device includes a plurality of fibers for creating a seal with an anatomy of the patient. A heart valve is carried by an inner graft covering.

Claims (42)

1. A heart valve assembly comprising:

an outer frame, wherein the outer frame is formed from a metallic material and defines a gridded configuration;

an inner frame that houses a prosthetic heart valve, wherein the inner frame is a graft covering extending around the prosthetic heart valve for providing sealing to the heart valve,

wherein the graft covering is one of polyester, PTFE, ePTFE, or a polymer;

wherein the outer frame is secured to the graft covering,

wherein the outer frame is secured to the graft covering by a plurality of stitches,

a sealing material positioned externally to the outer frame for providing sealing between the outer frame and a patient's anatomical wall to prevent paravalvular leaks, wherein the sealing material includes a plurality of radially extending fibers that extend outwardly of the outer frame.

2. The valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the fibers cover at least two circumferentially extending rows of grids formed in the gridded configuration.

3. The valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the fibers are engaged with the outer frame.

4. The valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the outer frame extends distally further than the prosthetic heart valve.

5. The valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the outer frame is a singular, integral component.

6. The valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the outer frame and the graft covering are attached by stitches at a top and bottom portion of the graft covering.

7. The valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the graft covering and the fibers are distinct elements.

8. The valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the valve assembly is delivered endovascularly.

9. The valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein a seal is created between the inner frame and the outer frame.

10. The valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the valve assembly is balloon expandable.

11. The valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein expansion of the valve assembly presses the sealing material against the aortic annulus of the patient.

12. A heart valve assembly comprising:

an outer frame, wherein the outer frame is formed from a metallic material and defines a gridded configuration;

an inner frame that houses a prosthetic heart valve, wherein the inner frame is a graft covering extending around the prosthetic heart valve for providing sealing to the heart valve,

wherein the graft covering is one of polyester, PTFE, ePTFE, or a polymer;

wherein the outer frame is secured to the graft covering,

wherein the outer frame is secured to the graft covering by a plurality of stitches,

a sealing material positioned externally to the outer frame for providing sealing between the outer frame and a patient's anatomical wall to prevent paravalvular leaks, wherein the sealing material includes a plurality of radially extending fibers that extend outwardly of the outer frame,

wherein the outer frame extends distally further than the prosthetic heart valve,

wherein the graft covering and the fibers are distinct elements,

wherein expansion of the valve assembly presses the sealing material against the aortic annulus of the patient.

13. A method comprising:

accessing an access artery of a patient;

endovascularly delivering a heart valve through the access artery into an area proximal a native heart valve of the patient;

wherein the heart valve assembly comprises:

an outer frame, wherein the outer frame is formed from a metallic material and defines a gridded configuration;

an inner frame that houses a prosthetic heart valve, wherein the inner frame is a graft covering extending around the prosthetic heart valve for providing sealing to the heart valve,

wherein the graft covering is one of polyester, PTFE, ePTFE, or a polymer;

wherein the outer frame is secured to the inner frame,

wherein the outer frame is secured to the graft covering by a plurality of stitches,

wherein the outer frame is covered with a sealing material to prevent paravalvular leaks, wherein the sealing material is for providing sealing between the outer frame and the patient's anatomical wall, wherein the sealing material includes a plurality of radially extending fibers that extend outwardly of the outer frame, wherein the fibers include strands of fibers that terminate in an end thereof outwardly of the outer frame;

expanding the heart valve assembly into engagement with an annulus of the patient at the native heart valve such that the sealing material presses against the annulus of the patient.

14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the valve assembly is delivered endovascularly.

15. The method of claim 13 , wherein a seal is created between the inner frame and the outer frame.

16. The method of claim 13 , wherein the valve assembly is balloon expandable.

17. The method of claim 13 , wherein expansion of the valve assembly presses the sealing material against the aortic annulus of the patient.
