Abstract

A computerized method performed by logic processing on a first network device is disclosed. The computerized method includes operations performed by a logic of a first network device includes detecting movement of the first network at a speed above a predetermined threshold and presence of a wireless transceiver, transmitting a message to the wireless transceiver that includes instructions for the wireless transceiver to perform a plurality of scans for additional network devices, receiving a set of lists corresponding to scans performed by the wireless transceiver, each of the set of lists indicating a first group of network devices detected by the wireless transceiver, determining a subset of the first set of the detected network devices present on each list of the set of lists, and responsive to the subset of the first set of the detected network devices exceeding a policy threshold limit, transmitting an alert.

Claims (30)

1. A computerized method performed by logic processing on a first network device, the computerized method comprising:

detecting, by logic processing on the first network device, movement of the first device network at a speed above a predetermined threshold and presence of a wireless transceiver;

transmitting, by the logic processing on the first network device, a message to the wireless transceiver that includes instructions for the wireless transceiver to perform a plurality of scans for additional network devices;

receiving, by the logic processing on the first network device, a set of lists corresponding to scans performed by the wireless transceiver, each of the set of lists indicating a first set of network devices detected by the wireless transceiver;

determining a subset of the first set of the detected network devices present on each list of the set of lists; and

responsive to the subset of the first set of the detected network devices exceeding a policy threshold limit, transmitting, by the logic processing on the first network device, an alert.

2. The computerized method of claim 1 , wherein the message to the wireless transceiver includes instructions to perform (1) a first scan for a first set of additional network devices, and (2) a second scan for a second set of additional network devices, wherein the second scan is to be performed after a predetermined time interval and wherein the first set of the detected network devices is comprised of the first set of additional network devices and the second set of additional network devices.

3. The computerized method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, by the logic processing on the first network device, data from the wireless transceiver pertaining to a second set of detected network devices, the data including, for each of the second set of detected network devices (i) a unique identifier corresponding to an instance of a specified software application installed thereon, and (ii) a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) value.

4. The computerized method of claim 3 , further comprising:

responsive to determining, by the logic processing on the first network device, the first network device either (1) corresponds to a strongest RSSI value within the data, or (2) has a RSSI value above a predetermined threshold, implementing a set of policies on the first network device, wherein implementation of the set of policies is configured to restrict functionality of the first network device according to a predefined list of functionalities.

5. The computerized method of claim 4 , further comprising:

monitoring sensory data associated with the first network device; and

responsive to determining that the sensory data violates the first policy, transmitting an alert according to instructions generated by the logic processing on the first network device.

6. The computerized method of claim 5 , wherein the sensory data includes data obtained through one or more sensors including at least one of an accelerometer, a global positioning system (GPS) unit, a gyroscope and a vibration sensor.

7. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having stored thereon instructions, the instructions being executable by one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

detecting, by logic processing on a first network device, movement of the first device network at a speed above a predetermined threshold and a presence of a wireless transceiver;

transmitting, by the logic processing on the first network device, a message to the wireless transceiver that includes instructions for the wireless transceiver to perform a plurality of scans for additional network devices;

receiving, by the logic processing on the first network device, a set of lists corresponding to scans performed by the wireless transceiver, each of the set of lists indicating a first set of network devices detected by the wireless transceiver;

determining a subset of the first set of the detected network devices present on each list of the set of lists; and

responsive to the subset of the first set of the detected network devices exceeding a policy threshold limit, transmitting, by the logic processing on the first network device, an alert.

8. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 7 , wherein the message to the wireless transceiver includes instructions to perform (1) a first scan for a first set of additional network devices, and (2) a second scan for a second set of additional network devices, wherein the second scan is to be performed after a predetermined time interval and wherein the first set of the detected network devices is comprised of the first set of additional network devices and the second set of additional network devices.

9. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 7 , further comprising:

receiving, by the logic processing on the first network device, data from the wireless transceiver pertaining to a second set of detected network devices, the data including, for each of the second set of detected network devices (i) a unique identifier corresponding to an instance of a specified software application installed thereon, and (ii) a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) value.

10. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 9 , further comprising:

responsive to determining, by the logic processing on the first network device, the first network device either (1) corresponds to a strongest RSSI value within the data, or (2) has a RSSI value above a predetermined threshold, implementing a set of policies on the first network device, wherein implementation of the set of policies is configured to restrict functionality of the first network device according to a predefined list of functionalities.

11. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , further comprising:

monitoring sensory data associated with the first network device; and

responsive to determining that the sensory data violates the first policy, transmitting an alert according to instructions generated by the logic processing on the first network device.

12. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the sensory data includes data obtained through one or more sensors including at least one of an accelerometer, a global positioning system (GPS) unit, a gyroscope and a vibration sensor.
