Abstract

Active agent-containing fibrous structure articles, for example dryer-added fibrous structure articles and/or washing machine-added fibrous structure articles and/or hair care fibrous structure articles, and more particularly to consumable, single use, water-insoluble fibrous structure articles containing one or more active agents and optionally, one or more auxiliary ingredients, methods for making same, and methods for using same are provided.

Claims (25)

1. A consumable, single use, article comprising a fibrous structure comprising a plurality of solid fibrous elements wherein at least one of the solid fibrous elements comprises one or more active agents present in the at least one of the solid fibrous elements and one or more auxiliary ingredients, wherein at least one of the active agents is releasable from the solid fibrous element when exposed to conditions of intended use, wherein the consumable, single use, article disappears during automatic clothes dryer use; and wherein the consumable, single use, water-insoluble article exhibits an Article Density of less than 0.80 g/cm 3 as measured according to the Density Test Method, and a Free Melt Flow of greater than about 20% as measured according to the Free Melt Flow Test Method.

2. The article according to claim 1 wherein the solid fibrous elements are inter-entangled in the fibrous structure.

3. The article according to claim 1 wherein at least one of the one or more active agents comprises a fabric conditioning active agent.

4. The article according to claim 3 wherein the fabric conditioning active agent comprises a fatty alcohol and a quaternary ammonium compound.

5. The article according to claim 4 wherein the fatty alcohol and quaternary ammonium compound are present in the article at a weight ratio of greater than 1:1.

6. The article according to claim 3 wherein the fabric conditioning active agent comprises a fatty acid and a quaternary ammonium compound.

7. The article according to claim 6 wherein the fatty acid and quaternary ammonium compound are present in the consumable, single use, water-insoluble article at a weight ratio of greater than 1:1.

8. The article according to claim 1 wherein at least one of the one or more active agents is selected from the group consisting of: fabric care active agents, dishwashing active agents, carpet care active agents, surface care active agents, hair care active agents, air care active agents, oral care active agents, dryer added active agents, and mixtures thereof.

9. The article according to claim 1 wherein at least one of the one or more active agents is selected from the group consisting of: perfumes, builders, chelants, antioxidants, brighteners, sun fade inhibiting agents, UV absorbing agents, insect repellants, scents, bleaching agents, enzymes, antimicrobials, antibacterials, antifungals, perfume delivery systems, perfume microcapsules, dye transfer inhibiting agents, hueing dyes, soil release agents, colorants, preservatives, opacifiers, stabilizers, anti-shrinkage agents, anti-wrinkle agents, fabric crisping agents, reductive agents, spotting agents, germicides, fungicides, anti-corrosion agents, and mixtures thereof.

10. The article according to claim 1 wherein at least one of the one or more auxiliary ingredients comprises a structurant.

11. The article according to claim 1 wherein at least one of the one or more auxiliary ingredients is dispersed throughout the one or more active agents.

12. The article according to claim 1 wherein the consumable, single use article exhibits one or more of the following characteristics:

a. a width from about 1 cm to about 15 cm;

b. a length from about 1 cm to about 23 cm;

c. a height from about 0.01 mm to about 50 mm;

d. a mass from about 0.10 g to about 10 g;

e. a volume from about 0.25 cm 3 to about 60.00 cm 3 ; and

f. a density from about 0.05 g/cm 3 to about 0.80 g/cm 3 .

13. The article according to claim 1 wherein the consumable, single use article exhibits a lamellar structure response as measured according to the Lamellar Structure Test Method.

14. The article according to claim 1 wherein the consumable, single use article exhibits a lamellar structure response in a wet state but does not exhibit a lamellar structure response in a dry state as measured according to the Lamellar Structure Test Method.

15. The article according to claim 1 wherein the consumable, single use article comprises one or more apertures.

16. The article according to claim 1 wherein the consumable, single use article exhibits a basis weight of greater than 10 g/m 2 to about 5000 g/m 2 as measured according to the Basis Weight Test Method.

17. The article according to claim 1 wherein the consumable, single use article exhibits a water content of from about 0% to about 20% as measured according to the Water Content Test Method.

18. A rolled product comprising a plurality of consumable, single use water-insoluble articles according to claim 1 .

19. A multi-article sheet product comprising a plurality of consumable single use, water-insoluble articles according to claim 1 .
