Abstract

Embodiments of the present invention include systems and methods for display and navigation of a clinical decision support process with portions thereof on separate display screens, as well as systems and methods for dynamically changing visual characteristics of softkeys on a patient monitor/defibrillator user interface screen based on clinical decision support or differential diagnosis processes, as well as a code review interface configured to permit a user to see what was displayed on a patient monitor/defibrillator user interface screen at any time during a medical event, as well as to see snapshots of other recorded parameters over the course of the medical event for purposes of code review, patient transfer, and improved patient care.

Claims (66)

1. A method for displaying visual representations of data according to times during a medical event, the method comprising:

receiving data, from one or more physiological sensors, at a patient monitor/defibrillator;

displaying the data on a screen of the patient monitor/defibrillator during the medical event;

communicatively coupling by the patient monitor/defibrillator to a computer tablet;

sending the data from the patient monitor/defibrillator to the computer tablet;

displaying, at the computer tablet, a visual timeline and a user interface replicator, the user interface replicator displaying visual representations of the data displayed at the patient monitor/defibrillator, the visual timeline representing times during the medical event associated with the data; and

providing, on the visual timeline, an indicator that is moveable along the visual timeline to a user selected position,

wherein the visual timeline and the user interface replicator permit sequential playback and review of the data displayed on the screen of the patient monitor/defibrillator during the medical event,

wherein the user selected position of the indicator along the visual timeline selects a time during the medical event for the sequential playback, and

wherein the visual timeline includes one or more event markers marking occurrence of delivery of therapy during the medical event.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the visual representations of the data comprise images of the screen of the patient monitor/defibrillator during the medical event.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the visual timeline includes a beginning time of the medical event and an end time of the medical event, the method further comprising indicating, with the indicator on the visual timeline, the time during the medical event associated with the data.

The method of claim 3 , further comprising advancing the indicator along the visual timeline in a direction from the beginning time toward the end time during the sequential playback of the data displayed on the screen of the patient monitor/defibrillator to indicate the time during the medical event associated with the data.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the indicator that is moveable is moveable by a user to positions along the visual timeline.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the visual timeline displays the time during the medical event associated with the data in an hour-minute-second format.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more event markers include a drug event marker indicating a time at which a drug was administered to a patient during the medical event.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more event markers include a defibrillation event marker indicating a time at which a defibrillation shock was applied to a patient during the medical event.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more event markers include an ROSC event marker indicating a time at which a patient returned to spontaneous circulation.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more event markers include a rearrest event marker indicating a time at which a patient returned to cardiac arrest.

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more event markers include an alarm event marker indicating a time at which an alarm was activated.

12. The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying a cursor at the computer tablet and, when the cursor is hovered over or near the time represented by the visual timeline, displaying the visual representations of the data associated with the time at or near the cursor.

13. The method of claim 12 , further comprising, when the cursor is hovered over or near the time represented by the visual timeline, displaying at or near the cursor a textual representation of the time represented by the visual timeline.

14. The method of claim 1 , wherein the data comprises one or more of ECG data, SpO2 data, EtCO2 data, and sternal motion data.

15. The method of claim 1 , the method comprising, displaying, by the user interface replicator, visual representations of the data presented by the user interface associated with a time corresponding to at least one event marker selected via the indicator that is moveable.

16. The method of claim 1 , wherein the indicator is moveable via a cursor.

17. The method of claim 1 , wherein the computer tablet comprises a touchscreen and the indicator is moveable via the touchscreen.

18. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more event markers are graphic symbols.

19. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

receiving a user selection of an event marker of the one or more event markers; and

in response to the user selection of the event marker, skipping directly to a time associated with the selected event marker and resuming the sequential playback at the time associated with the selected event marker.

20. The method of claim 1 ,

wherein the patient monitor/defibrillator comprises a dock for the computer tablet, and

wherein the computer tablet is configured to mount in the dock.

21. A method for displaying visual representations of data according to times during a medical event, the method comprising:

receiving data, from one or more physiological sensors, at a patient monitor/defibrillator;

displaying the data on a screen of the patient monitor/defibrillator during the medical event;

communicatively coupling by the patient monitor/defibrillator to a computer tablet;

sending the data from the patient monitor/defibrillator to the computer tablet;

displaying, at the computer tablet, a visual timeline and a user interface replicator, the user interface replicator displaying visual representations of the data displayed at the patient monitor/defibrillator, the visual timeline representing times during the medical event associated with the data; and

providing, on the visual timeline, an indicator that is moveable along the visual timeline to a user selected position,

wherein the visual timeline and the user interface replicator permit sequential playback and review of the data displayed on the screen of the patient monitor/defibrillator during the medical event, and

wherein the user selected position of the indicator along the visual timeline selects a time during the medical event for the sequential playback;

displaying a cursor on the computer tablet; and

when the cursor is hovered over or near a time represented by the visual timeline, displaying the visual representations of the data associated with the time represented by the visual timeline within a pop-up window on the computer tablet.

22. The method of claim 21 , wherein the visual representations of the data comprise images of the screen of the patient monitor/defibrillator during the medical event.

23. The method of claim 21 , wherein the visual timeline includes a beginning time of the medical event and an end time of the medical event, the method further comprising indicating, with the indicator on the visual timeline, the time during the medical event associated with the data.

24. The method of claim 23 , further comprising advancing the indicator along the visual timeline in a direction from the beginning time toward the end time during the sequential playback of the data displayed on the screen of the patient monitor/defibrillator to indicate the time during the medical event associated with the data.

25. The method of claim 24 , wherein the indicator that is moveable is moveable by a user to positions along the visual timeline.

26. The method of claim 21 , wherein the visual timeline displays the time during the medical event associated with the data in an hour-minute-second format.

27. The method of claim 21 , wherein the visual timeline includes one or more event markers marking occurrence of clinically-relevant sub-events during the medical event.

28. The method of claim 27 , wherein the one or more event markers include a drug event marker indicating a time at which a drug was administered to a patient during the medical event.

29. The method of claim 27 , wherein the one or more event markers include a defibrillation event marker indicating a time at which a defibrillation shock was applied to a patient during the medical event.

30. The method of claim 27 , wherein the one or more event markers include an ROSC event marker indicating a time at which a patient returned to spontaneous circulation.

31. The method of claim 27 , wherein the one or more event markers include a rearrest event marker indicating a time at which a patient returned to cardiac arrest.

32. The method of claim 27 , wherein the one or more event markers include an alarm event marker indicating a time at which an alarm was activated.

33. The method of claim 21 , further comprising, when the cursor is hovered over or near the time represented by the indicator, displaying at or near the cursor a textual representation of the time represented by the indicator.

34. The method of claim 21 , wherein the data comprises one or more of ECG data, SpO2 data, EtCO2 data, and sternal motion data.

35. The method of claim 21 , wherein the indicator is moveable via the cursor.

36. The method of claim 21 , wherein the computer tablet comprises a touchscreen and the indicator is moveable via the touchscreen.

37. The method of claim 27 , wherein the one or more event markers are graphic symbols.

38. The method of claim 37 , comprising:

receiving a user selection of an event marker of the one or more event markers; and

in response to the user selection of the event marker, skipping directly to a time associated with the selected event marker and resuming the sequential playback at the time associated with the selected event marker.

39. The method of claim 21 ,

wherein the patient monitor/defibrillator comprises a dock for the computer tablet, and

wherein the computer tablet is configured to mount in the dock.
