Abstract

An electroluminescence display device, including a first electrode and a second electrode facing each other; a quantum dot emission layer disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode, the quantum dot emission layer including a plurality of quantum dots and not including cadmium, wherein the quantum dot emission layer includes a red emission layer disposed in a red pixel, a green emission layer disposed in a green pixel, and a blue emission layer disposed in a blue pixel, wherein the device has color reproducibility according to a DCI standard of greater than or equal to about 89%.

Claims (61)

1. An electroluminescent display device, comprising:

a first electrode and a second electrode facing each other; and

a quantum dot emission layer disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode, the quantum dot emission layer comprising a plurality of quantum dots,

wherein the quantum dot emission layer does not comprises cadmium,

wherein the quantum dot emission layer comprises a red emission layer disposed in a red pixel, a green emission layer disposed in a green pixel, and a blue emission layer disposed in a blue pixel,

wherein the red emission layer comprises a plurality of red light emitting quantum dots, and the red pixel exhibits an electroluminescence peak having a full width at half maximum of less than or equal to about 42 nanometers,

wherein the green emission layer comprises a plurality of green light emitting quantum dots, and the green pixel exhibits a electroluminescence peak having a full width at half maximum of less than or equal to about 39 nanometers,

wherein the blue emission layer comprises a plurality of blue light emitting quantum dots, and the blue pixel exhibits a electroluminescence peak having a full width at half maximum of less than or equal to about 33 nanometers, and

wherein the device has a color reproducibility according to a DCI standard of greater than or equal to about 89 percent.

2. The electroluminescent display device of claim 1 , wherein the device has a color reproducibility according to a BT2020 standard of greater than or equal to about 66 percent.

3. The electroluminescent display device of claim 1 , wherein the device has a color reproducibility according to a DCI standard of greater than or equal to about 94 percent.

4. The electroluminescent display device of claim 1 , wherein the device has a color reproducibility according to a BT2020 standard of greater than or equal to about 72 percent.

5. The electroluminescent display device of claim 1 ,

wherein the red light emitting quantum dots comprise a semiconductor nanocrystal particle comprising a core comprising indium, phosphorus, and optionally zinc, and a shell disposed on a surface of the core, the shell comprising zinc, sulfur, and optionally selenium;

wherein the green light emitting quantum dots comprise a green light emitting semiconductor nanocrystal particle comprising a core comprising indium, phosphorus, and optionally zinc, and a shell disposed on a surface of the core and comprising zinc, sulfur, and optionally selenium; or

wherein the blue light emitting quantum dots comprise a blue light emitting semiconductor nanocrystal particle comprising zinc, tellurium, and selenium, an amount of the tellurium is less than an amount of the selenium, and the blue light emitting semiconductor nanocrystal particle comprises a core comprising a first semiconductor material comprising zinc, tellurium, and selenium, and a shell disposed on a surface of the core and comprising zinc, sulfur, and optionally selenium.

6. The electroluminescent display device of claim 5 , wherein in the blue light emitting semiconductor nanocrystal particle, a mole ratio of the tellurium relative to the zinc is less than or equal to about 0.03.

7. The electroluminescent display device of claim 5 ,

wherein the red light emitting semiconductor nanocrystal particle has a size of greater than or equal to about 5 nanometers,

wherein the green light emitting semiconductor nanocrystal particle has a size of greater than or equal to about 6 nanometers, or

wherein the blue light emitting semiconductor nanocrystal particle has a size of greater than or equal to about 8 nanometers.

8. The electroluminescent display device of claim 1 ,

wherein the red pixel has peak external quantum efficiency of greater than or equal to about 2 percent,

wherein the green pixel has peak external quantum efficiency of greater than or equal to about 2 percent, or

wherein the blue pixel has peak external quantum efficiency of greater than or equal to about 2 percent.

9. The electroluminescent display device of claim 1 ,

wherein the red pixel has maximum brightness of greater than or equal to about 200 candelas per square meter,

wherein the green pixel has maximum brightness of greater than or equal to about 300 candelas per square meter, or

wherein the blue pixel has maximum brightness of greater than or equal to about 300 candelas per square meter.

The electroluminescent display device of claim 1 , wherein the device comprises a charge auxiliary layer, and wherein the charge auxiliary layer is between the first electrode and the quantum dot emission layer, between the second electrode and the quantum dot emission layer, or a combination thereof.

11. An electroluminescent display device, comprising:

a first electrode and a second electrode facing each other; and

a quantum dot emission layer disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode, the quantum dot emission layer comprising a plurality of quantum dots

wherein the quantum dot emission layer does not comprise cadmium,

wherein the quantum dot emission layer comprises a red emission layer disposed in a red pixel, a green emission layer disposed in a green pixel, and a blue emission layer disposed in a blue pixel,

wherein the red emission layer comprises a plurality of red light emitting quantum dots,

wherein the green emission layer comprises a plurality of green light emitting quantum dots,

wherein the blue emission layer comprises a plurality of blue light emitting quantum dots, and

wherein the device has a color reproducibility according to a DCI standard of greater than or equal to about 89 percent, and

wherein the blue light emitting quantum dots comprise a blue light emitting semiconductor nanocrystal particle comprising zinc and selenium.

12. The electroluminescent display device of claim 11 , wherein the blue light emitting semiconductor nanocrystal particle further comprises tellurium, and an amount of the tellurium is less than an amount of the selenium.

13. The electroluminescent display device of claim 12 , wherein in the blue light emitting semiconductor nanocrystal particle, a mole ratio of the tellurium relative to the selenium is less than or equal to about 0.05.

The electroluminescent display device of claim 11 , wherein the blue light emitting semiconductor nanocrystal particle has a core comprising a first semiconductor material comprising zinc, tellurium, and selenium, and a shell disposed on at least a portion of the core, the shell comprising a second semiconductor material having a composition different from a composition of the first semiconductor material.

15. The electroluminescent display device of claim 11 ,

wherein the plurality of red light emitting quantum dots have a luminescence peak wavelength of greater than or equal to about 620 nm and less than or equal to about 640 nm,

wherein the plurality of green light emitting quantum dots have a luminescence peak wavelength of greater than or equal to greater than or equal to about 524 nm and less than or equal to about 545 nm,

wherein the plurality of blue light emitting quantum dots have a luminescence peak wavelength of greater than or equal to about 446 nm and less than or equal to about 470 nm.

16. An electroluminescent display device, comprising:

a first electrode and a second electrode facing each other; and

a quantum dot emission layer disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode, the quantum dot emission layer comprising a plurality of quantum dots

wherein the quantum dot emission layer does not comprises cadmium,

wherein the quantum dot emission layer comprises a red emission layer disposed in a red pixel, a green emission layer disposed in a green pixel, and a blue emission layer disposed in a blue pixel,

wherein the red emission layer comprises a plurality of red light emitting quantum dots, and the plurality of red light emitting quantum dots show a luminescence peak wavelength of greater than or equal to about 620 nanometers and about 640 nanometers,

wherein the green emission layer comprises a plurality of green light emitting quantum dots, and the plurality of green light emitting quantum dots show a luminescence peak wavelength of greater than or equal to about 520 nanometers and less than or equal to about 545 nanometers ,

wherein the blue emission layer comprises a plurality of blue light emitting quantum dots, and the plurality of blue light emitting quantum dots show a luminescence peak wavelength of greater than or equal to about 440 nanometers and less than or equal to about 470 nanometers,

wherein the device has a color reproducibility according to a DCI standard of greater than or equal to about 89 percent, and

wherein the blue light emitting quantum dots comprise a blue light emitting semiconductor nanocrystal particle comprising zinc and selenium.

17. The electroluminescent display device of claim 16 , wherein the plurality of blue light emitting quantum dots have a luminescence peak wavelength of greater than or equal to about 449 nanometers.

18. The electroluminescent display device of claim 16 , wherein the blue light emitting semiconductor nanocrystal particle further comprises tellurium, and a mole ratio of the tellurium relative to the selenium is less than or equal to about 0.05.

19. The electroluminescent display device of claim 16 , wherein the plurality of blue light emitting quantum dots have a quantum efficiency of greater than or equal to about 60%.

20. The electroluminescent display device of claim 16 , wherein the plurality of blue light emitting quantum dots have an average size of greater than or equal to about 8 nm.
