Abstract

A system for providing integrated detection and deterrence against an unmanned vehicle including but not limited to aerial technology unmanned systems using a detection element, a tracking element, an identification element and an interdiction or deterrent element. Elements contain sensors that observe real time quantifiable data regarding the object of interest to create an assessment of risk or threat to a protected area of interest. This assessment may be based e.g., on data mining of internal and external data sources. The deterrent element selects from a variable menu of possible deterrent actions. Though designed for autonomous action, a Human in the Loop may override the automated system solutions.

Claims (34)

1. A system for identifying and tracking a drone of the type that transmits state data including an identifier, the system comprising:

(a) an RF antenna that receives an RF signal transmitted by the drone;

(b) an RF receiver connected to the RF antenna, the RF receiver configured to detect state data including an identifier transmitted by the drone;

(c) a processor connected to the RF receiver, the processor configured to execute a target identification process to identify the drone based on the detected state data and identifier; and

(d) a tracker including a sensor array that tracks the drone's location.

2. The system of claim 1 wherein the state data comprises at least one of location, classification, and registration.

3. The system of claim 1 wherein the processor identifies a variety of drone state data observed by a fused set of sensor phenomenology.

4. The system of claim 1 wherein the RF receiver comprises a spectral signal identifier configured to identify or locate a drone in flight.

5. The system of claim 1 wherein the tracker includes a radar, RF antennas and an optical/IR/laser range finder to determine an X, Y, Z location of the drone.

6. The system of claim 1 wherein system is configured to accept state data generated by non-organic sensors and incorporates this told-in data into the target identification process.

7. A multi-sensor system for providing integrated detection, tracking, identification and classification against an unmanned aerial vehicles comprising:

sensors including:

an omnidirectional antenna,

a directional antenna,

a radar system,

a camera system, and

a laser range finder,

the sensors configured to collect, independently or in conjunction, non-organic sensor data of a flying unmanned aerial vehicle;

a storage device storing a database library of system generated multi-sensor unmanned aerial vehicle data and state data generated by non-organic sensors; and

a sensor fusion processor connected to the sensors and to the storage device, the sensor fusion processor configured to process the sensor data to identify the unmanned aerial vehicle in flight.

8. The system of claim 7 wherein the state data comprises at least one of location, classification, registration and identification.

9. The system of claim 7 wherein the processor identifies state data observed by a fused set of sensor phenomenology.

10. The system of claim 7 wherein the processor comprises a spectral signal identifier configured to identify or locate the unmanned aerial vehicle in flight.

11. The system of claim 7 further including a tracker including a radar, RF antennas and an optical/IR/laser range finder to determine an X, Y, Z location of the unmanned aerial vehicle.

12. The system of claim 7 wherein processor is configured to incorporate told-in state data generated by non-organic sensors into target identification.

13. A multi-sensor system comprising:

a secure control internal/external network using existing infrastructure or dedicated high bandwidth point-to-point communications hardware that allows the end-user access to sensor data of an unmanned aerial vehicle in flight;

a sensor fusion processor to determine a flight profile of an unmanned aerial system in flight using radar, imagery and laser range finder sensor data; and

an omnidirectional and directional antenna system for sending and receiving RF communication to an unmanned aerial system in flight.

14. The system of claim 13 wherein sensor fusion processor determines state data comprises at least one of location, classification, registration and identification.

15. The system of claim 13 wherein the sensor fusion processor identifies state data observed by a fused set of sensor phenomenology.

16. The system of claim 13 wherein the sensor fusion processor comprises a spectral signal identifier configured to identify or locate the unmanned aerial vehicle in flight.

17. The system of claim 13 further including a tracker including a radar, RF antennas and an optical/IR/laser range finder to determine an X, Y, Z location of the unmanned aerial vehicle in flight.

18. The system of claim 13 wherein sensor fusion processor is configured to incorporate told-in state data generated by non-organic sensors into target identification.
