Abstract

Systems and methods for providing one or more services to a device are disclosed. The device may be remote from a first network. The one or more services may be associated with the first network.

Claims (38)

1. A method comprising:

sending, by a first device to a second device, a discover request, wherein the first device is located in a first network and is authenticated based on the discover request, and wherein the first network is separate from a second network;

receiving, from the second device, encoded identification data, wherein the encoded identification data relates to one or more services available locally in the second network;

sending, by the first device to a third device located in the second network, an indication of at least one selected service of the one or more services; and

receiving, by the first device, the at least one selected service of the one or more services.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the encoded identification data comprises at least one of: an internet protocol address for the at least one of the one or more services, address information for the at least one of the one or more services, or available service data.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining, based on multicast discovery information, that the one or more services are available locally in the second network.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more services comprise one or more media management services provided on the second network by the third device.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, by the first device, an assignment of a network address for the second network; and

determining, via emulation by the first device of the third device and based on receiving the assignment of the network address, virtual inclusion of the first device in the second network.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, by an interface of the first device and based on the second device being a proxy for the third device, the one or more services.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more services comprises at least one of: digital living network alliance (DLNA) enabled services, printing services, media management services, content services, or streaming services.

8. A system comprising:

a first computing device located in a first network, the first computing device configured to:

send a discover request;

send, to a third computing device located in a second network, an indication of at least one selected service of one or more services available locally in the second network, wherein the first network is separate from the second network; and

receive the at least one selected service of one or more services; and

a second computing device configured to:

receive, from the first computing device, the discover request;

authenticate, based on the discover request, the first computing device; and

send, to the first computing device, encoded identification data, wherein the encoded identification data relates to the one or more services.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the encoded identification data comprises at least one of: an internet protocol address for the at least selected service of the one or more services, address information for the at least selected service of the one or more services, or available service data.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the second computing device is further configured to determine, based on multicast discovery information, that the one or more services are available locally in the second network.

11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the one or more services comprise one or more media management services provided on the second network by the third computing device.

12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the first computing device is further configured to receive an assignment of a network address for the second network, and wherein the second computing device is further configured to determine, via emulation by the first computing device of the third computing device and based on the first computing device being configured to receive the assignment of the network address, virtual inclusion of the first computing device in the second network.

13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the second computing device is further configured to send, based on the second computing device being a proxy for the third computing device, the one or more services to an interface of the first computing device.

14. One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing processor executable instructions that, when executed by at least one processor of a first device, cause the at least one processor to:

send, to a second device, a discover request, wherein the first device is located in a first network and is authenticated based on the discover request, and wherein the first network is separate from a second network,

receive, from the second device, encoded identification data, wherein the encoded identification data relates to one or more services available locally in the second network;

send, to a third device located in the second network, an indication of at least one selected service of the one or more services; and

receive the at least one selected service of the one or more services.

15. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 14 , wherein the encoded identification data comprises at least one of: an internet protocol address for the at least selected service of the one or more services, address information for the at least one of the one or more services, or available service data.

16. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 14 , wherein the processor executable instructions, when executed by at least one processor, further cause the at least one processor to determine, based on multicast discovery information, that the one or more services are available locally in the second network.

17. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 14 , wherein the one or more services comprise one or more media management services provided on the second network by the third device.

18. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 14 , wherein the processor executable instructions, when executed by at least one processor, further cause the at least one processor to receive an assignment of a network address for the second network, wherein the second device is configured to determine, via emulation by the first device of the third device and based on the at least one processor being caused to receive the assignment of the network address, virtual inclusion of the first device in the second network.

19. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 14 , wherein the processor executable instructions, when executed by at least one processor, further cause the at least one processor to receive, at an interface of the first device and based on the second device being a proxy for the third device, the one or more services.

20. The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 14 , wherein the one or more services comprises at least one of: digital living network alliance (DLNA) enabled services, printing services, media management services, content services, or streaming services.
