Abstract

Using a read sensor to sense wrong-way driving. A method may include sensing, by a rear sensor of a vehicle, an environment of the vehicle to provide rear sensed information; processing the rear sensed information to provide at least one rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indications; generating or receiving at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications; wherein the at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications is generated by processing front-sensed information acquired during right-way progress; comparing at least one rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indications to the at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications to determine whether the vehicle is wrong-way driving; and responding to the finding of the wrong-way driving.

Claims (32)

1. A method for wrong-way driving warning, the method comprises:

sensing, by a rear sensor of a vehicle, an environment of the vehicle to provide rear sensed information;

processing the rear sensed information to provide at least one rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indications;

generating or receiving at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications; wherein the at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications is generated by processing front-sensed information acquired during right-way progress;

comparing at least one rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indications to the at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications to determine whether the vehicle is wrong-way driving; and

responding to the finding of the wrong-way driving.

2. The method according to claim 1 comprising determining the vehicle is wrong-way driving when a rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indication equals a front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications.

3. The method according to claim 1 wherein the at least one rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indications and the at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications are indicative of a direction of progress of a another vehicle.

4. The method according to claim 1 wherein the at least one rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indications and the at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications comprises a color of light emitted by another vehicle.

5. The method according to claim 1 wherein the comparing comprises searching for a rear light of vehicles driving at the same lane of the vehicle—within the rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indication and in the front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications.

6. The method according to claim 1 wherein the comparing comprises applying a machine learning process.

The method according to claim 1 wherein the rear sensed information comprises one or more media units, wherein the processing of the rear sensed information comprises processing the media units by performing multiple iterations, wherein each iteration out of at least some of the multiple iterations comprises applying, (a) filtering operations that differ from each other and (b) a merge operation.

8. A non-transitory computer readable medium for wrong-way driving warning, the non-transitory computer readable medium stores instructions for:

sensing, by a rear sensor of a vehicle, an environment of the vehicle to provide rear sensed information;

processing the rear sensed information to provide at least one rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indications;

generating or receiving at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications; wherein the at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications is generated by processing front-sensed information acquired during right-way progress;

comparing at least one rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indications to the at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications to determine whether the vehicle is wrong-way driving; and responding to the finding of the wrong-way driving.

9. The non-transitory computer readable medium according to claim 8 that stores instructions for determining the vehicle is wrong-way driving when a rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indication equals a front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications.

10. The non-transitory computer readable medium according to claim 8 wherein the at least one rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indications and the at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications are indicative of a direction of progress of a another vehicle.

11. The non-transitory computer readable medium according to claim 8 wherein the at least one rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indications and the at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications comprises a color of light emitted by another vehicle.

The non-transitory computer readable medium according to claim 8 wherein the comparing comprises searching for a rear light of vehicles driving at the same lane of the vehicle—within the rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indication and in the front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications.

13. The non-transitory computer readable medium according to claim 8 wherein the comparing comprises applying a machine learning process.

The non-transitory computer readable medium according to claim 8 wherein the rear sensed information comprises one or more media units, wherein the processing of the rear sensed information comprises processing the media units by performing multiple iterations, wherein each iteration out of at least some of the multiple iterations comprises applying, (a) filtering operations that differ from each other and (b) a merge operation.

15. A wrong-way monitor that comprises a read sensor and a processor; wherein the rear sensor is configured to sense an environment of the vehicle to provide rear sensed information;

wherein the processor is configured to:

process the rear sensed information to provide at least one rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indications;

generate or receive at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications; wherein the at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications is generated by processing front-sensed information acquired during right-way progress;

compare at least one rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indications to the at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications to determine whether the vehicle is wrong-way driving; and

participate in responding to the finding of the wrong-way driving.

16. The wrong-way monitor according to claim 15 that is configured to determine that the vehicle is wrong-way driving when a rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indication equals a front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications.

17. The wrong-way monitor according to claim 15 wherein the at least one rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indications and the at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications are indicative of a direction of progress of a another vehicle.

18. The wrong-way monitor according to claim 15 wherein the at least one rear-sensed vehicle progress direction indications and the at least one front-sensed vehicle progress direction indications comprises a color of light emitted by another vehicle.
