Insect compositions
Lipid-depleted insect compositions are described and include protein, chitin, bacteria, fungi, and various ranges of calcium, phosphorous, magnesium, potassium, ash, manganese, iron, zinc, water, bulk density, carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and protein, wherein the composition is derived from Orthoptera order of insects, or the composition is not derived from Orthoptera order of insects. Lipid extraction methods are described which include use of a use of a first immiscible liquid and a second immiscible liquid. Compositions including insect eggs, feedstocks, and breeding materials are described.
1. A composition comprising lipid-depleted insects and plant matter, wherein the lipid-depleted insects are derived from a source of insects that have undergone lipid extraction, the lipid-depleted insects include chitin and protein.
2. The composition according to claim 1 , comprising:
malic acid.
3. The composition according to claim 1 , comprising:
fermentation waste.
4. The composition according to claim 1 , comprising:
meat.
5. The composition according to claim 1 , comprising:
spent microorganisms.
6. The composition according to claim 1 , comprising:
an alcohol production coproduct.
7. The composition according to claim 1 , comprising:
bacteria.
8. The composition according to claim 1 , comprising:
fungi.
9. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein:
said lipid depleted insects comprise Orthoptera order insects.
10. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein:
said lipid depleted insects comprise an order of insect other than Orthoptera order insects.
11. The composition according to claim 1 , comprising:
scales of fish and/or soft tissues of fish.
12. The composition according to claim 1 , comprising:
niacin.
13. The composition according to claim 1 , comprising:
taurine.
14. The composition according to claim 1 , comprising:
radulae of mollusks.
15. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein:
the composition includes an animal food, wherein the animal is not a human.
16. The composition according to claim 1 , comprising:
poultry waste.
17. The composition according to claim 1 , comprising:
grain.
18. The composition according to claim 1 , comprising:
a virus.
19. A composition comprising lipid-depleted insects, wherein the lipid-depleted insects are derived from a source of insects that have undergone lipid extraction, the lipid-depleted insects include chitin and protein, wherein the composition includes a bulk density ranging from between 3.5 to 14.999 pounds per cubic foot.

plant matter.
21. The composition according to claim 19 , comprising:
vegetative material.
22. The composition according to claim 19 , comprising:
fermentation waste.
23. The composition according to claim 19 , comprising:
malic acid.

spent microorganisms and/or an alcohol production coproduct.
26. The composition according to claim 19 , wherein:
the composition includes an animal food, wherein the animal is not a human.

A composition comprising lipid-depleted insects, wherein the lipid-depleted insects are derived from a source of insects that have undergone lipid extraction, the lipid-depleted insects include chitin and protein, wherein the composition includes a bulk density ranging from between 15 to 50 pounds per cubic foot.

plant matter.

vegetative material.

A method to produce lipid-depleted insects, the method comprises providing insects comprising a lipid content and extracting the lipids from said insects in a lipid extraction unit selected from the group consisting of a mechanical lipid extractor, expeller press, screw press, a vertical decanter, and a horizontal decanter.
