Abstract

Provided are a heterocyclic compound and an organic light-emitting device including the same.

Claims (127)

1. A heterocyclic compound represented by Formula 1:

wherein, in Formulas 1, 2A, and 2B,

Ar 1 to Ar 5 are each independently a C 5 -C 60 carbocyclic group or a π electron-depleted nitrogen-free heterocyclic group,

D 1 is a group represented by Formula 2A or Formula 2B,

Y 1 is selected from a single bond, *—N(R 2 )—*′, *—C(R 2 )(R 3 )—*′, and *—C(R 2 )═C(R 3 )—*′,

k1 is 1 or 2,

m1 is 0 or 1,

m2 is 1 or 2,

m1 and m2 satisfy m1+m2=2,

A 1 is a group represented by Formula 3A or Formula 3B,

R w is a cyano group or a substituted or unsubstituted π electron-depleted nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group,

wherein the π electron-depleted nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group is a C 1 -C 60 heterocyclic group having at least one *—N=*′ moiety as a ring-forming moiety,

n1 is an integer of 1 to 4,

X 1 is *—O—*′, *—S—*′, or *—S(═O) 2 —*′, and X 2 is a single bond or *—C(R 4 )(R 5 )—*′, wherein X 1 is *—S(═O) 2 —*′ or X 2 is *—C(R 4 )(R 5 )—*′,

R 1 to R 5 , R 10 , R 20 , R 30 , R 40 , R 50 , R 60 , R 70 , and R 80 are each independently hydrogen, deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amidino group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazono group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, —Si(Q 1 )(Q 2 )(Q 3 ), —N(Q 1 )(Q 2 ), —B(Q 1 )(Q 2 ), —C(═O)(Q 1 ), —S(═O)(Q 1 ), or —P(═O)(Q 1 )(Q 2 ),

R 2 and R 3 ; or R 4 and R 5 are optionally linked to form a substituted or unsubstituted C 5 -C 60 carbocyclic group or a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 heterocyclic group,

a10, a20, a30, a40, and a50 are each independently an integer of 1 to 8,

a60 is an integer of 0 to 3,

a70 and a80 are each independently an integer of 1 to 3,

at least one substituent of the substituted C 5 -C 60 carbocyclic group, the substituted C 2 -C 60 heterocyclic group, the substituted C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, the substituted C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, the substituted C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, the substituted C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, the substituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, the substituted C 1 -C 10 het erocycloalkyl group, the substituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, the substituted C 1 -C 10 het erocycloalkenyl group, the substituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group, the substituted C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, the substituted C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, the substituted C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, the substituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, and the substituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group is selected from:

deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amidino group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazono group, a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, and a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group;

a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, and a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, each substituted with at least one selected from deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amidino group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazono group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, —Si(Q 11 )(Q 12 )(Q 13 ), —N(Q 11 )(Q 12 ), —B(Q 11 )(Q 12 ), —C(═O)(Q 11 ), —S(═O) 2 (Q 11 ), and —P(═O)(Q 1 )(Q 12 );

a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, and a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group;

a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, and a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, each substituted with at least one selected from deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amidino group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazono group, a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, —Si(Q 21 )(Q 22 )(Q 23 ), —N(Q 21 )(Q 22 ), —B(Q 21 )(Q 22 ), —C(═O)(Q 21 ), —S(═O) 2 (Q 21 ), and —P(═O)(Q 21 )(Q 22 ); and

—Si(Q 31 )(Q 32 )(Q 33 ), —N(Q 31 )(Q 32 ), —B(Q 31 )(Q 32 ), —C(═O)(Q 31 ), —S(═O) 2 (Q 31 ), and —P(═O) (Q 31 ) (Q 32 ),

Q 1 to Q 3 , Q 11 to Q 13 , Q 21 to Q 23 , and Q 31 to Q 33 are each independently selected from hydrogen, deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amidino group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazono group, a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, a biphenyl group, and a terphenyl group, and

* and *′ each indicate a binding site to a neighboring atom.

2. The heterocyclic compound of claim 1 , wherein Ar 1 to Ar 5 are each independently selected from a benzene group, a naphthalene group, a fluorene group, a carbazole group, a dibenzofuran group, a dibenzothiophene group, and a dibenzosilole group.

3. The heterocyclic compound of claim 1 , wherein D 1 is selected from:

an acridinyl group, a carbazolyl group, a phenazinyl group, a benzocarbazolyl group, a dibenzocarbazolyl group, an indeno carbazolyl group, a 11,12-dihydroindolocarbazolyl group, a dibenzoazepine group, a 10,11-dihydrodibenzoazepine group, and a tribenzoazepine group; and

an indolyl group, an acridinyl group, a carbazolyl group, a phenazinyl group, a benzocarbazolyl group, a dibenzocarbazolyl group, an indeno carbazolyl group, an indolocarbazolyl group, a dibenzoazepine group, a dihydrodibenzoazepine group, and a tribenzoazepine group, each substituted with at least one selected from deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, a C 1 -C 20 alkyl group, a cyclopentyl group, a cyclohexyl group, a cycloheptyl group, a cyclopentenyl group, a cyclohexenyl group, a phenyl group, a naphthyl group, a fluorenyl group, a spiro-bifluorenyl group, a spiro-fluorene-benzofluorenyl group, a benzofluorenyl group, a dibenzofluorenyl group, a pyrenyl group, a phenalenyl group, a phenanthrenyl group, an anthracenyl group, a fluoranthenyl group, a triphenylenyl group, a biphenyl group, and a terphenyl group.

4. The heterocyclic compound of claim 1 , wherein D 1 is a group represented by Formula 2A-1 or Formula 2B-1:

Y 1 and k1 are respectively defined the same as those of claim 1 ,

R 1 to R 3 , R 40 , and R 50 are each independently selected from hydrogen, deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, a C 1 -C 20 alkyl group, a cyclopentyl group, a cyclohexyl group, a cycloheptyl group, a cyclopentenyl group, a cyclohexenyl group, a phenyl group, a naphthyl group, a fluorenyl group, a spiro-bifluorenyl group, a spiro-fluorene-benzofluorenyl group, a benzofluorenyl group, a dibenzofluorenyl group, a pyrenyl group, a phenalenyl group, a phenanthrenyl group, an anthracenyl group, a fluoranthenyl group, a triphenylenyl group, a biphenyl group, and a terphenyl group,

a41 and a51 are each independently an integer of 1 to 4,

a42 is an integer of 1 to 3, and

* and *′ each indicate a binding site to a neighboring atom.

5. The heterocyclic compound of claim 1 , wherein A, is represented by one selected from Formulas 3A-1 to 3A-3 and 3B-1 to 3B-10:

wherein, in Formulas 3A-1 to 3A-3 and 3B-1 to 3B-10,

R w , n1, X 1 , X 2 , R 60 , R 70 , R 80 , a60, a70, and a80 are respectively defined the same as those of claim 1 , and

* and *′ each indicate a binding site to a neighboring atom.

6. The heterocyclic compound of claim 1 , wherein A 1 is represented by one formula selected from Formulas 3A-2-1 to 3A-2-4 and 3B-8-1 to 3B-8-4:

R 4 , R 5 , R 60 , R 70 , R 80 , a 70 , and a 80 are respectively defined the same as those of claim 1 ,

R w1 , R w2 , and R w3 are each independently defined the same as R w in claim 1 ,

a61 is an integer of 1 to 3,

a62 is 1 or 2, and

* and *′ each indicate a binding site to a neighboring atom.

7. A heterocyclic compound represented by Formula 1:

wherein, in Formulas 1, 2A, and 2B,

Ar 1 to Ar 5 are each independently a C 5 -C 60 carbocyclic group or a π electron-depleted nitrogen-free heterocyclic group,

D 1 is a group represented by Formula 2A or Formula 2B,

Y 1 is selected from a single bond, *—N(R 2 )—*′, *—C(R 2 )(R 3 )—*′, and *—C(R 2 )═C(R 3 )—*′,

k1 is 1 or 2,

m1 is 0 or 1,

m2 is 1 or 2,

m1 and m2 satisfy m1+m2=2,

R 1 to R 5 , R 10 , R 20 , R 30 , R 40 , and R 50 are each independently hydrogen, deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amidino group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazono group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, —Si(Q 1 )(Q 2 )(Q 3 ), —N(Q 1 )(Q 2 ), —B(Q 1 )(Q 2 ), —C(═O)(Q 1 ), —S(═O)(Q 1 ), or —P(═O)(Q 1 )(Q 2 ),

a10, a20, a30, a40, and a50 are each independently an integer of 1 to 8,

at least one substituent of the substituted C 5 -C 60 carbocyclic group, the substituted C 2 -C 60 heterocyclic group, the substituted C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, the substituted C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, the substituted C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, the substituted C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, the substituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, the substituted C 1 -C 10 het erocycloalkyl group, the substituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, the substituted C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, the substituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group, the substituted C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, the substituted C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, the substituted C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, the substituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, and the substituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group is selected from:

—Si(Q 31 )(Q 32 )(Q 33 ), —N(Q 31 )(Q 32 ), —B(Q 31 )(Q 32 ), —C(═O)(Q 31 ), —S(═O) 2 (Q 31 ), and —P(═O)(Q 31 )(Q 32 ),

Q 1 to Q 3 , Q 11 to Q 13 , Q 21 to Q 23 , and Q 31 to Q 33 are each independently selected from hydrogen, deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amidino group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazono group, a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 1 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 1 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, a biphenyl group, and a terphenyl group, and

* and *′ each indicate a binding site to a neighboring atom,

wherein A 1 is represented by one formula selected from Formulas 4-1 to 4-7:

wherein, in Formulas 4-1 to 4-7,

* and *′ each indicate a binding site to a neighboring atom.

8. The heterocyclic compound of claim 1 , wherein R w is selected from:

a cyano group, a pyridinyl group, a pyrimidyl group, a triazinyl group, a quinolinyl group, an isoquinolinyl group, a benzoquinolinol group, a naphthyridinyl group, a quinoxalinyl group, and a quinazolinyl group; and

a pyridinyl group, a pyrimidyl group, a triazinyl group, a quinolinyl group, an isoquinolinyl group, a benzoquinolinol group, a naphthyridinyl group, a quinoxalinyl group, and a quinazolinyl group, each substituted with at least one selected from deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amidino group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazono group, a methyl group, an ethyl group, a propyl group, an isobutyl group, a sec-butyl group, a ter-butyl group, pentyl group, an isoamyl group, a hexyl group, a cyclopentyl group, a cyclohexyl group, a cycloheptyl group, a cyclopentenyl group, a cyclohexenyl group, a phenyl group, a naphthyl group, a fluorenyl group, a spiro-bifluorenyl group, a spiro-fluorene-benzofluorenyl group, a benzofluorenyl group, a dibenzofluorenyl group, a pyrenyl group, a phenalenyl group, a phenanthrenyl group, an anthracenyl group, a fluoranthenyl group, a triphenylenyl group, a pyridinyl group, a pyrimidyl group, a triazinyl group, a quinolinyl group, an isoquinolinyl group, a benzoquinolinol group, a naphthyridinyl group, a quinoxalinyl group, a quinazolinyl group, a biphenyl group, and a terphenyl group.

9. The heterocyclic compound of claim 1 , wherein R 1 to R 5 are each independently selected from:

hydrogen, deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, a methyl group, an ethyl group, a propyl group, an isobutyl group, a sec-butyl group, a ter-butyl group, and a phenyl group; and

a methyl group, an ethyl group, a propyl group, an isobutyl group, a sec-butyl group, a ter-butyl group, and a phenyl group, each substituted with at least one selected from deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amidino group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazono group, a methyl group, an ethyl group, a propyl group, an isobutyl group, a sec-butyl group, and a ter-butyl group.

10. The heterocyclic compound of claim 1 , wherein R 10 , R 20 , R 30 , R 40 , and R 50 are each independently selected from:

Y 1 is selected from a single bond, *—N(R 2 )—*′, *—C(R 2 )(R 3 )—*′, and *—C(R 2 )═C(R 3 )—*′,

k1 is 1 or 2,

m1 is 0 or 1,

m2 is 1 or 2,

m1 and m2 satisfy m1+m2=2,

A 1 is a group represented by Formula 3A or Formula 3B,

R w is a cyano group or a substituted or unsubstituted π electron-depleted nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group,

n1 is an integer of 1 to 4,

13. An organic light-emitting device comprising:

a first electrode;

a second electrode facing the first electrode; and

an organic layer disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode,

wherein the organic layer comprises an emission layer and at least one heterocyclic compound of claim 1 .

14. The organic light-emitting device of claim 13 , wherein the first electrode is an anode, the second electrode is a cathode, and the organic layer further comprises a hole transport region between the first electrode and the emission layer and an electron transport region between the emission layer and the second electrode,

wherein the hole transport region comprises a hole injection layer, a hole transport layer, an emission auxiliary layer, an electron blocking layer, or any combination thereof, and

the electron transport region comprises a hole blocking layer, electron transport layer, electron injection layer, or any combination thereof.

15. The organic light-emitting device of claim 14 , wherein the emission layer comprises the heterocyclic compound.

16. The organic light-emitting device of claim 14 , wherein the emission layer comprises the heterocyclic compound as a host, and further comprises a dopant.

17. The organic light-emitting device of claim 15 , wherein the heterocyclic compound comprised in the emission layer is a thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitter, and the emission layer is configured to emit delayed fluorescence.

18. The organic light-emitting device of claim 15 , wherein the emission layer consists of the heterocyclic compound or the emission layer further comprises a host,

wherein an amount of the heterocyclic compound per 100 parts by weight of the emission layer is in a range of about 0.1 parts to about 50 parts by weight.

19. The organic light-emitting device of claim 14 , wherein the hole transport region comprises a p-dopant having a lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy level of less than −3.5 eV.

20. The organic light-emitting device of claim 14 , wherein the electron transport region comprises a triazole-containing compound or a benzotriazole-containing compound, or

an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, a rare earth metal, an alkali metal compound, an alkaline earth metal compound, a rare earth metal compound, an alkali metal complex, an alkaline earth metal complex, a rare earth metal complex, or any combination thereof.
