Abstract

An apparatus for obtaining sensory data is disclosed. The apparatus includes a housing, a battery displaced within the housing, and circuitry displaced at least partially within the housing, the circuitry including an integrated circuit, an accelerometer, and a communications interface. The housing is formed from one or more of hardened plastic, metal, glass or composite. The circuitry further includes a vibration sensor. The communication interface enables communications with external network devices or a cloud server. The circuitry includes logic to perform operations including: receiving signals from one or more network devices; and parsing a first signal to identify (i) a unique identifier of a first network device of the one or more network devices, wherein the first network device transmitted the first signal, and (ii) determine a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) value of the first signal.

receiving signals from one or more network devices of the first group or second group of detectable network devices; and

parsing a first signal to (i) identify an identifier of a first network device of the one or more network devices, wherein the first network device transmitted the first signal, and (ii) determine a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) value of the first signal.

6. A system comprising:

a housing configured to be coupled to an interior of a first automobile;

a battery displaced within the housing;

a memory to store executable instructions; and

circuitry coupled with the memory, wherein the instructions, when executed by the circuitry, cause performance of operations including:

performing a first scan to detect a first group of detectable network devices, the first scan persisting for a first time duration, wherein the first scan includes receiving a first set of one or more beacons from the first group of detectable network devices,

subsequent to expiration of the first time duration, parsing first received signals to (i) identify a first set of identifiers, each corresponding to one of the first group of detectable network devices, and (ii) removing duplicate identifiers received within the first time duration to form a first list,

following expiration of a wait time, performing a second scan to detect a second group of detectable network devices, the second scan persisting for a second time duration, wherein the second scan includes receiving a second set of one or more beacons from the second group of detectable network devices, wherein the first group and the second group of detectable network devices are located within either the first automobile or a second automobile,

subsequent to expiration of the second time duration, parsing second received signals to (i) identify a second set of identifiers, each corresponding to one of the second group of detectable network devices, and (ii) removing duplicate identifiers received within the second time duration to form a second list, and

transmitting content of each of the first list and the second list to the first network device, wherein a third list is generated by identifying matching entries that appear on both the first list and second list, wherein the third list includes a listing of identifiers of detected network devices within a proximity to the apparatus for obtaining the sensory data, and

responsive to a number of identifiers appearing on the third list, generating and providing an alert to an administrator.

7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the housing is formed from one or more of hardened plastic, metal, glass or composite.
