Abstract

A computing system can include an interface that receives a URL responsive to activation of an Internet link by a remote device; circuitry that determines a geolocation of the remote device; and circuitry that, based at least in part on the geolocation of the remote device, generates a redirection link.

Claims (31)

1. A method comprising:

receiving a uniform resource locator (URL) via an interface of a computing system responsive to activation of an Internet link in a user interface of an executing application installed in a smart phone that comprises a plurality of installed applications, wherein the plurality of installed applications comprises the executing application, a browser application and at least another application;

parsing the URL for information that identifies an item;

determining a type of the item is an application item that corresponds to the executing application;

via the computing system, determining a geolocation of the smart phone; and

based at least in part on the geolocation of the smart phone, the information that identifies the item and the type of the item, via the computing system, generating a redirection link, wherein the redirection link directs the executing application to the item in an Internet store associated with the executing application, wherein the generating comprises making a decision as to whether the Internet store associated with the executing application utilizes an internal affiliate program or an external affiliate program, and wherein, based on the decision, the redirection link comprises affiliate information for an internal affiliate or an external affiliate.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the Internet store comprises media compatible with the executing application.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the Internet store is selected from a plurality of Internet stores.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the plurality of Internet stores corresponds to a plurality of different countries.

5. The method of claim 1 , comprising parsing the URL for information that identifies the executing application.

6. The method of claim 1 , comprising parsing the URL for information that identifies a type of media renderable by the executing application.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the type of media comprise audio media.

8. The method of claim 6 , wherein the type of media comprise video media.

9. The method of claim 1 , comprising parsing the URL for information that identifies an affiliate program.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the affiliate information of the redirection link comprises at least one affiliate parameter based at least in part on the information that identifies the affiliate program.

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the redirection link comprises a uniform resource identifier (URI).

12. The method of claim 1 , wherein the smart phone executes a particular proprietary operating system.

13. The method of claim 1 , wherein the executing application is a particular proprietary application.

14. The method of claim 1 , wherein the Internet store is a particular proprietary store.

15. The method of claim 1 , wherein the affiliate information is for skimming by a redirection service provider.

16. The method of claim 15 , comprising determining that an entity associated with the Internet link is not a member of an affiliate program and setting the affiliate information to that of a redirection service provider that performs the generation of the redirection link.

17. The method of claim 16 , wherein the affiliate program corresponds to the Internet store for a location that is based at least in part on the geolocation of the smart phone.

18. A computing system comprising:

an interface that receives a uniform resource locator (URL) responsive to activation of an Internet link in a user interface of an executing-application installed in a smart phone that comprises a plurality of installed applications, wherein the plurality of installed applications comprises the executing application, a browser application and at least another application;

at least one processor;

memory; and

processor-executable instructions stored in the memory and executable to instruct the computing system to:

parse the URL for information that identifies an item;

determine a type of the item is an application item that corresponds to the executing application;

determine a geolocation of the smart phone; and

based at least in part on the geolocation of the smart phone, the information that identifies the item and the type of the item, via the computing system, generate a redirection link, wherein the redirection link directs the executing application to the item in an Internet store associated with the executing application, wherein generation of the redirection link comprises making a decision as to whether the Internet store associated with the executing application utilizes an internal affiliate program or an external affiliate program, and wherein, based on the decision, the redirection link comprises affiliate information for an internal affiliate or an external affiliate.
