Abstract

The current invention concerns coverings such as a floor covering, wall covering or ceiling covering, said covering comprising at least one substrate and at least one surface layer, said surface layer comprising a print pattern and a wear layer, whereby said print pattern is directly applied to said substrate, and further concerns a method to produce such coverings.

Claims (18)

1. Covering panel configured as a floor covering, wall covering or ceiling covering, said covering panel comprising:

at least one substrate comprising natural wood;

a surface of the natural wood comprising a print pattern;

wherein said print pattern is directly printed on the wood of the substrate by laser printing, inkjet printing, intaglio printing, screen printing or a combination thereof, using a least one colorant wherein the colorant comprises a water-based or an organic solvent-based colorant, wherein the wood of the substrate comprises a nerve structure, wherein the print pattern improves, enhances or highlights the nerve structure, the covering panel further comprising a wear layer on the printed natural wood.

2. Covering panel according to claim 1 , wherein said wear layer comprises a colorant which is uniformly distributed throughout said wear layer.

3. Covering panel according to claim 1 , wherein said wear layer comprises a colorant which is non-uniformly distributed throughout said wear layer.

4. Covering panel according to claim 1 , wherein said wear layer comprises an acrylated urethane-based UV-curable layer.

5. Covering panel according to claim 1 , whereby said covering panel comprises a bevel or a locking system, wherein the natural wood with said print pattern is extended onto said bevel and/or said locking system.

6. Covering according to claim 1 , whereby said covering panel is provided with an embossing pattern.

7. Covering according to claim 6 , whereby said embossing pattern is in register with said print pattern.

8. Method for producing covering panels, configured as a floor covering, wall covering or ceiling covering, comprising the steps of:

providing a substrate comprising a natural wood;

applying to the wood of the substrate, a print pattern and a wear layer;

wherein said print pattern is ink directly printed on the natural wood of the substrate by laser printing, inkjet printing, intaglio printing, screen printing or a combination thereof, using a least one colorant,

wherein the colorant comprises a water-based or an organic solvent-based colorant, wherein the wood of the substrate comprises a nerve structure, wherein the print pattern improves, enhances or highlights the nerve structure.

9. Method according to claim 8 , whereby said covering is provided with any of a bevel or a locking system, whereby the natural wood with said print pattern is extended onto said bevel and/or said locking system.

10. Method according to claim 8 , comprising the step of:

scanning the surface of the substrate onto which the print pattern is to be applied, using an optical and/or laser scanning system.
