Abstract

A toilet includes a base, a cover, and a seat. The seat is rotatably coupled to the base, and the cover is rotatably coupled to the seat. The cover and the seat define an angled axis that is oriented upward and forward toward a front end of the base. The cover and the seat are each configured to rotate about the angled axis between a lowered position in which the cover and the seat are located adjacent the base and a stowed position in which the cover and the seat are oriented in an upward direction.

Claims (43)

1. A flush mechanism comprising:

a water layer opening, configured to dispense a water fan including a laminar flow across a top opening of a bowl of a toilet; and

at least one water jet opening located at least partially below the water layer opening and configured to dispense water as at least one water jet into the bowl.

2. The flush mechanism of claim 1 , wherein water flows from the water layer opening and the water jet opening at an initial pressure that is reduced over a period of time.

3. The flush mechanism of claim 1 , wherein the at least one water jet opening includes a plurality of water jet openings.

4. The flush mechanism of claim 1 , wherein the water jet opening is directed downwardly and at an angle along the inner surface of the bowl.

5. The flush mechanism of claim 1 , wherein the water jet opening is substantially wide and flat, creating a water jet that is substantially wide and flat.

6. The flush mechanism of claim 1 , wherein the water jet opening dispenses water using a siphon effect.

7. The flush mechanism of claim 1 , wherein the at least one water jet opening includes a first water jet opening and a second water jet opening located at least partially below the water layer opening and configured to dispense water as at least one second water jet into the bowl, wherein the first water jet opening and the second water jet opening are angled away from one another in order to direct the water jets in different directions along the inner sides of the bowl.

8. The flush mechanism of claim 1 further comprising:

a top protrusion positioned above the water layer opening,

wherein water expelled from the water layer opening is dispensed upward toward the top protrusion, and

wherein the water expelled from the water layer opening is deflected by the top protrusion forming the water fan.

9. A toilet comprising:

a base, including a bowl;

a cover;

an internal spray channel located in the cover; and

a plurality of spray nozzles located at the bottom surface of the cover and configured to spray water into the bowl to rinse the bowl.

10. The toilet of claim 9 further comprising:

a spray channel valve configured to control the spray of water through the plurality of spray nozzles.

11. The toilet of claim 10 further comprising:

a control system configured to electronically control the opening and closing of the spray channel valve.

12. The toilet of claim 9 , further comprising:

a seat, and wherein water is sprayed from the spray nozzles while the seat is in a stowed position.

13. The toilet of claim 9 further comprising:

a heat source coupled to the cover;

an internal steam fluid channel located in the cover; and

a steam nozzle located at the bottom surface of the cover and configured to discharge steam towards the inner surface of the bowl.

14. The toilet of claim 13 , wherein the heat source is one of a heating element or a ceramic member.

15. The toilet of claim 9 further comprising:

an ultraviolet light source located at a bottom surface of the cover and configured to illuminate the bowl.

16. A toilet comprising:

a base, including a bowl;

a water layer opening, in an upper portion of the bowl configured to dispense a water fan including laminar flow across a top opening of the bowl; and

at least one water jet opening, in the upper portion of the bowl configured to dispense water as at least one water jet into the bowl.

17. The toilet of claim 16 , wherein water flows from the water layer opening and the water jet opening at an initial pressure that is reduced over a period of time.

18. The toilet of claim 16 , wherein

the water jet opening is substantially wide and flat, creating a water jet that is substantially wide and flat.

19. The toilet of claim 16 , wherein the at least one water jet opening includes a first water jet opening and a second water jet opening located at least partially below the water layer opening and configured to dispense water as at least one second water jet into the bowl, wherein the first water jet opening and the second water jet opening are angled away from one another in order to direct the water jets in different directions along the inner sides of the bowl.

20. The toilet of claim 16 further comprising:

a top protrusion positioned above the water layer opening,

wherein water expelled from the water layer opening is upward toward the top protrusion, and

wherein the water expelled from the water layer opening is deflected by the top protrusion forming the water fan.
