Abstract

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment may receive a radio resource control (RRC) resume message, associated with transitioning the UE from an inactive state to a connected state. The UE may configure, based at least in part on receiving the RRC resume message, the UE with a serving cell common configuration, associated with a serving cell of the UE, received in a system information block (SIB) associated with the serving cell. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Claims (49)

1. A method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE), comprising:

obtaining an access stratum (AS) context comprising a first cell common configuration associated with a serving cell of the UE in a connected state;

transitioning to an inactive state;

receiving a system information block (SIB) comprising a second cell common configuration for a second cell;

receiving a radio resource control (RRC) resume message, associated with transitioning the UE from the inactive state to the connected state, separately from receiving the SIB;

configuring the UE with the second cell common configuration received in the SIB; and

transitioning to the connected state based at least in part on a configuration comprising the second cell common configuration.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the UE is configured with the second cell common configuration received in the SIB instead of using the first cell common configuration.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the SIB is received based at least in part on UE mobility that causes the UE to reselect to the second cell.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the SIB is a SIB1 associated with the second cell.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the RRC resume message is received in connection with a RRC resume request being sent by the UE, and

wherein the RRC resume request is sent by the UE based at least in part on detection of a trigger to transition the UE from the inactive state to the connected state.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the UE transitions to the connected state from the inactive state after configuration of the UE with the second cell common configuration received in the SIB.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

storing at least a portion of the obtained AS context,

the stored AS context including a robust header compression (ROHC) state, a cell radio network temporary identifier (C-RNTI) used in a primary cell, a cell identity, and a physical cell identity of the primary cell.

8. The method of claim 7 , further comprising:

restoring the stored AS context based on receiving the RCC resume message.

9. A user equipment (UE) for wireless communication, comprising:

a memory; and

one or more processors coupled to the memory, the memory and the one or more processors configured to:

obtain an access stratum (AS) context comprising a first cell common configuration associated with a serving cell of the UE in a connected state;

transition to an inactive state;

receive a system information block (SIB) comprising a second cell common configuration for a second cell;

receive a radio resource control (RRC) resume message, associated with transitioning the UE from the inactive state to the connected state, separately from receiving the SIB;

configure the UE with the second cell common configuration received in the SIB; and

transition to the connected state based at least in part on a configuration comprising the second cell common configuration.

10. The UE of claim 9 , wherein the UE is configured with the second cell common configuration received in the SIB instead of using the first cell common configuration.

11. The UE of claim 9 , wherein the SIB is received based at least in part on UE mobility that causes the UE to reselect to the second cell.

12. The UE of claim 9 , wherein the SIB is a SIB1 associated with the second cell.

13. The UE of claim 9 , wherein the RRC resume message is received in connection with a RRC resume request being sent by the UE, and

wherein the RRC resume request is sent by the UE based at least in part on detection of a trigger to transition the UE from the inactive state to the connected state.

14. The UE of claim 9 , wherein the UE transitions to the connected state from the inactive state after configuration of the UE with the second cell common configuration received in the SIB.

15. The UE of claim 9 , wherein the memory and the one or more processors are further configured to:

store at least a portion of the obtained AS context,

the stored AS context including a robust header compression (ROHC) state, a cell radio network temporary identifier (C-RNTI) used in a primary cell, a cell identity, and a physical cell identity of the primary cell.

16. The UE of claim 15 , wherein the memory and the one or more processors are further configured to:

restore the stored AS context based on receiving the RCC resume message.

17. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing one or more instructions for wireless communication, the one or more instructions comprising:

one or more instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a user equipment (UE), cause the one or more processors to:

obtain an access stratum (AS) context comprising a first cell common configuration associated with a serving cell of the UE in a connected state;

transition to an inactive state;

receive a system information block (SIB) comprising a second cell common configuration for a second cell;

receive a radio resource control (RRC) resume message, associated with transitioning the UE from the inactive state to the connected state, separately from receiving the SIB;

configure the UE with the second cell common configuration received in the SIB; and

transition to the connected state based at least in part on a configuration comprising the second cell common configuration.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the UE is configured with the second cell common configuration received in the SIB instead of using the first cell common configuration.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the SIB is received based at least in part on UE mobility that causes the UE to reselect to the second cell.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the SIB is a SIB1 associated with the second cell.
