Abstract

Described herein are systems, servers, devices, methods, and media for validating, improving, and predicting emergency locations. In some embodiments, disclosed herein is a method for validating a reported location associated with an emergency request comprises: detecting an emergency request from a first device; identifying a reported location associated with the emergency request; identifying one or more attributes associated with the emergency request; determining a location accuracy metric for the emergency request using the one or more attributes; comparing the location accuracy metric to a first accuracy threshold, wherein the reported location is converted to a validated location when the location accuracy metric meets the first accuracy threshold; and, in response to the location accuracy metric meeting the first accuracy threshold, providing the validated location to one or more recipients comprising a public safety answering point (PSAP).

Claims (25)

1. A computer-implemented method for improving location accuracy associated with a reported location by an emergency location analysis system, the method comprising:

identifying a reported location and one or more attributes associated with an emergency alert, wherein the reported location is a device-based hybrid location generated by an electronic device that initiated the emergency alert;

applying a location improvement rule to the reported location based on the one or more attributes associated with the emergency alert to generate an improved location, wherein applying the location improvement rule comprises:

calculating a distance between the reported location and a user-defined location, wherein the user-defined location is submitted through the electronic device by a user of the electronic device;

comparing the distance to a proximity threshold; and

in response to the distance meeting the proximity threshold, generating the improved location by snapping the reported location to the user-defined location; and

providing the improved location to one or more recipients comprising a public safety answering point (PSAP).

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing the reported location in addition to the improved location to the one or more recipients including the PSAP.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user-defined location is a work or home address.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the emergency alert is associated with an emergency call.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving a location request from the PSAP and providing the improved location to the one or more recipients including the PSAP in response to receiving the location request from the PSAP.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising delivering an indication to the PSAP that the improved location is distinct from the reported location.

7. An emergency location analysis system for improving location accuracy associated with a reported location, comprising:

a network server comprising at least one processor configured to:

identify a reported location and one or more attributes associated with an emergency alert, wherein the reported location is a device-based hybrid location generated by an electronic device that initiated the emergency alert;

apply a location improvement rule to the reported location based on the one or more attributes associated with the emergency alert to generate an improved location, wherein applying the location improvement rule comprises:

calculating a distance between the reported location and a user-defined location, wherein the user-defined location is submitted through the electronic device by a user of the electronic device;

comparing the distance to a proximity threshold; and

in response to the distance meeting the proximity threshold, generating the improved location by snapping the reported location to the user-defined location; and

provide the improved location to one or more recipients comprising a public safety answering point (PSAP).

8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to provide the reported location in addition to the improved location to the one or more recipients including the PSAP.

9. The system of claim 7 , wherein the user-defined location is a work or home address.

10. The system of claim 7 , wherein the emergency alert is associated with an emergency call.

11. The system of claim 7 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to receive a location request from the PSAP and provide the improved location to the one or more recipients including the PSAP in response to receiving the location request from the PSAP.

12. The system of claim 7 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to deliver an indication to the PSAP that the improved location is distinct from the reported location.
