Abstract

An example operation includes one or more of receiving an opt-in request to display information on a display of a vehicle configured to be viewed from outside of the vehicle, authenticating the request to allow displaying information on the display, determining information associated with the vehicle to be displayed on the display, determining misuse of the information displayed on the display based on a notification from another vehicle, and flagging the misuse.

Claims (79)

1. A method, comprising:

receiving, by a server, an opt-in request from a first vehicle to display information on an external display of the first vehicle;

authenticating, by the server, the opt-in request;

sending, by the server, first information associated with, and corresponding to, the opt-in request for display on the external display;

receiving, by the server, an image, captured by a second vehicle, of second information shown on the external display;

comparing, by the server, the second information to the first information;

identifying, by the server, a misuse of the information based the second information not matching the first information; and

flagging, by the server, the misuse; and

automatically controlling, by the server, the external display to correct the misuse.

2. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

identifying a level of importance of the opt-in request.

3. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

generating a penalty for the misuse based on the level of importance.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the sending an instruction to the vehicle to correct the misuse further comprises:

sending an instruction to blank the external display;

sending an instruction to display the first information; or

sending an instruction to reduce an amount of the displayed second in formation.

5. The method of claim 2 , further comprising:

identifying a change in the level of importance; and

changing a color to be used in displaying the first information by the external display in response to the changing in the level of importance.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the authenticating the opt-in request comprises:

validating an identity of a vehicle occupant initiating the opt-in request; and

responsive to the validating, determining that the opt-in request corresponds to an allowed category.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the sending an instruction to the first vehicle to correct the misuse further comprises:

providing a time frame in which the misuse is to be corrected,

wherein the method further comprises:

removing an indication of the misuse if the misuse is corrected within the time frame.

8. A system, comprising:

a memory storing instructions; and

a processor that when executing the instructions is configured to:

receive an opt-in request from a first vehicle to display information on an external display of the first vehicle;

authenticate the opt-in request;

send first information associated with, and corresponding to, the opt-in request for display on the external display;

receive an image, captured by a second vehicle, of second information shown on the external display;

compare the second information to the first information;

identify a misuse of the information based the second information not matching the first information; and

flag the misuse; and

automatically control the external display to correct the misuse.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the processor is configured to:

identify a level of importance of the opt-in request.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the processor is configured to:

generate a penalty for the misuse based on the level of importance.

11. The system of claim 8 , wherein, when the processor the sends an instruction to the vehicle to correct the misuse, the processor is further configured to:

send an instruction to blank the external display;

send an instruction to display the first information; or

send an instruction to reduce an amount of the displayed second in formation.

12. The system of claim 9 , wherein the processor is configured to:

identify a change in the level of importance determine a level of importance of the opt-in request; and

change a color to be used in displaying the first information by the external display in response to the changing in the level of importance responsive to the level of importance being above a threshold, display the information on a commensurate number of displays.

13. The system of claim 8 , wherein, when the processor authenticates the opt-in request, the processor is further configured to:

validate an identity of a vehicle occupant who initiates the opt-in request; and

responsive to the instructions validate the identity, determine that the opt-in request corresponds to an allowed category.

14. The system of claim 8 , wherein, when the processor sends an instruction to the first vehicle to correct the misuse, the processor is further configured to:

provide a time frame in which the misuse is to be corrected,

wherein the method further comprises:

removing an indication of the misuse if the misuse is corrected within the time frame.

15. A computer program product comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by a processor of a server, cause the processor to perform:

receiving an opt-in request from a first vehicle to display information on an external display of the first vehicle;

authenticating the opt-in request;

sending first information associated with, and corresponding to the opt-in request for display on the external display;

receiving an image, captured by a second vehicle, of second information shown on the external display;

comparing the second information to the first information;

identifying a misuse of the information based the second information not matching the first information; and

flagging the misuse; and

automatically controlling the external display to correct the misuse.

16. The computer program product of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further cause the processor to perform:

identifying a level of importance of the opt-in request.

17. The computer program product of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further cause the processor to perform:

generating a penalty for the misuse based on the level of importance.

18. The computer program product of claim 15 , wherein the sending an instruction to the vehicle to correct the misuse further comprises:

sending an instruction to blank the external display;

sending an instruction to display the first information; or

sending an instruction to reduce an amount of the displayed second in formation.

19. The computer program product of claim 16 , wherein the instructions cause the processor to perform:

identifying a change in the level of importance; and

changing a color to be used in displaying the first information by the external display in response to the changing in the level of importance.

20. The computer program product of claim 15 , wherein the authenticating the opt-in request comprises:

validating an identity of a vehicle occupant initiating the opt-in request; and

responsive to the validating, determining that the opt-in request corresponds to an allowed category.
