Abstract

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a receiving device may receive an indication of at least one factor associated with an antenna array thinning operation at a transmitting device. Accordingly, the receiving device may adjust at least one reception parameter at the receiving device based at least in part on the at least one factor. Similarly, a transmitting device may transmit an indication of at least one factor associated with antenna array thinning operation. Accordingly, the transmitting device may perform the antenna array thinning operation based at least in part on the at least one factor. Numerous other aspects are described.

receive, from the transmitting device, a message indicating that the transmitting device is capable of performing the antenna array thinning operation.

5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the indication further includes a main lobe gain, a main lobe direction, a set of side lobe gains, or a set of side lobe directions associated with the transmitting device.

6. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

receive, from the transmitting device, a configuration for a channel between the transmitting device and the receiving device based at least in part on the at least one factor.

7. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one factor comprises:

a quantity of antenna elements;

a proportion of antenna elements that are activated or turned on;

a mask of on-off antenna elements that is used for the antenna array thinning operation;

a power savings associated with the antenna array thinning operation;

an inter-antenna element spacing; or

a carrier frequency used by the transmitting device.

8. An apparatus for wireless communication at a transmitting device, comprising:

a memory; and

one or more processors, coupled to the memory, configured to:

transmit an indication of at least one factor associated with an antenna array thinning operation; and

perform the antenna array thinning operation based at least in part on the at least one factor.

9. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein, to perform the antenna array thinning operation, the one or more processors are configured to:

deactivate a subset of antenna elements associated with the transmitting device.

10. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

transmit a message indicating that the transmitting device is capable of performing the antenna array thinning operation.

11. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the indication further includes a main lobe gain, a main lobe direction, a set of side lobe gains, or a set of side lobe directions associated with the transmitting device.

12. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

transmit a configuration for a channel between the transmitting device and a receiving device based at least in part on the at least one factor.

13. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the at least one factor comprises:

a quantity of antenna elements;

a proportion of antenna elements that are activated or turned on;

a mask of on-off antenna elements that is used for the antenna array thinning operation;
