Abstract

A content replacement system and method for simultaneously updating a plurality of images of visual designs on an electronic display of an electronic device using synchronized client- and server-side visual design object models by representing visual objects in visual designs using a keyed attribute and associated attribute value comprising a visual object specification.

Claims (70)

1. A computer-implemented method of modifying electronic visual objects, the computer-implemented method comprising:

receiving, by a processor, a request to recolor an electronic visual object, the electronic visual object having (i) a set of design elements, and (ii) a visual design specification that specifies content and presentation information for rendering the electronic visual object;

obtaining, by the processor, a new color to be used in recoloring the electronic visual object;

determining, by the processor from the visual design specification of the electronic visual object, that the electronic visual object contains more than one initial color;

calculating, by the processor, an average color brightness associated with each initial color of the more than one initial color;

determining, by the processor, a range of the average color brightnesses that were calculated;

for each initial color of the more than one initial color, mapping, by the processor, the average color brightness of that initial color to a different shade of the new color, wherein each different shade is based on the range of the average color brightnesses that were calculated;

modifying, by the processor, the visual design specification by replacing more than one initial color value respectively associated with the more than one initial color with the more than one different shade of the new color that were mapped; and

rendering, by the processor in a graphical user interface, the electronic visual object according to the visual design specification that was modified.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein obtaining the new color to be used in recoloring the electronic visual object comprises:

determining, from an existing visual design specification of an existing visual object, the new color to be used in recoloring the electronic visual object.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein determining that the electronic visual object contains more than one initial color comprises:

determining, by the processor from a set of fill color style attributes of the visual design specification of the electronic visual object, that the electronic visual object contains more than one initial color.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 3 , wherein determining, from the set of fill color style attributes of the visual design specification of the electronic visual object, that the electronic visual object contains more than one initial color comprises:

reading, by the processor, a set of fill color style attributes of the visual design specification to determine all instances of a fill color style attribute definition and that there is more than one defined value across all the instances of the fill color style attribute definition.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

obtaining, by the processor, a set of red, green, and blue color values for each initial color of the electronic visual object.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, by the processor via the graphical user interface, a selection of the electronic visual object.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, by the processor via the graphical user interface, at least one keyword;

determining, by the processor, a set of replacement visual objects that match the at least one keyword;

displaying, in the graphical user interface, the set of replacement visual objects; and

receiving, via the graphical user interface, a selection of a replacement visual object of the set of replacement visual objects.

8. A system for modifying electronic visual objects, comprising:

a graphical user interface;

memory storing a set of computer-readable instructions; and

a processor interfacing with the graphical user interface and the memory, and configured to execute the set of computer-readable instructions to cause the processor to:

receive a request to recolor an electronic visual object, the electronic visual object having (i) a set of design elements, and (ii) a visual design specification that specifies content and presentation information for rendering the electronic visual object,

obtain a new color to be used in recoloring the electronic visual object,

determine, from the visual design specification of the electronic visual object, that the electronic visual object contains more than one initial color,

calculate an average color brightness associated with each initial color of the more than one initial color,

determine a range of the average color brightnesses that were calculated,

for each initial color of the more than one initial color, map the average color brightness of that initial color to a different shade of the new color, wherein each different shade is based on the range of the average color brightnesses that were calculated,

modify the visual design specification by replacing more than one initial color value respectively associated with the more than one initial color with the more than one different shade of the new color that were mapped, and

cause the graphical user interface to render the electronic visual object according to the visual design specification that was modified.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein to obtain the new color to be used in recoloring the electronic visual object, the processor is configured to:

determine, from an existing visual design specification of an existing visual object, the new color to be used in recoloring the electronic visual object.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein to determine that the electronic visual object contains more than one initial color, the processor is configured to:

determine, from a set of fill color style attributes of the visual design specification of the electronic visual object, that the electronic visual object contains more than one initial color.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein to determine, from the set of fill color style attributes of the visual design specification of the electronic visual object, that the electronic visual object contains more than one initial color, the processor is configured to:

read a set of fill color style attributes of the visual design specification to determine all instances of a fill color style attribute definition and that there is more than one defined value across all the instances of the fill color style attribute definition.

12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the processor is configured to execute the set of computer-readable instructions to further cause the processor to:

obtain a set of red, green, and blue color values for each initial color of the electronic visual object.

13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the processor is configured to execute the set of computer-readable instructions to further cause the processor to:

receive, via the graphical user interface, a selection of the electronic visual object.

14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the processor is configured to execute the set of computer-readable instructions to further cause the processor to:

receive, via the graphical user interface, at least one keyword,

determine a set of replacement visual objects that match the at least one keyword,

cause the graphical user interface to display the set of replacement visual objects, and

receive, via the graphical user interface, a selection of a replacement visual object of the set of replacement visual objects.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having stored thereon a set of instructions, executable by at least one processor, for modifying electronic visual objects, the instructions comprising:

instructions for receiving a request to recolor an electronic visual object, the electronic visual object having (i) a set of design elements, and (ii) a visual design specification that specifies content and presentation information for rendering the electronic visual object;

instructions for obtaining a new color to be used in recoloring the electronic visual object;

instructions for determining, from the visual design specification of the electronic visual object, that the electronic visual object contains more than one initial color;

instructions for calculating an average color brightness associated with each initial color of the more than one initial color;

instructions for determining a range of the average color brightnesses that were calculated;

instructions for, for each initial color of the more than one initial color, mapping the average color brightness of that initial color to a different shade of the new color, wherein each different shade is based on the range of the average color brightnesses that were calculated;

instructions for modifying the visual design specification by replacing more than one initial color value respectively associated with the more than one initial color with the more than one different shade of the new color that were mapped; and

instructions for rendering, in a graphical user interface, the electronic visual object according to the visual design specification that was modified.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions for obtaining the new color to be used in recoloring the electronic visual object comprise:

instructions for determining, from an existing visual design specification of an existing visual object, the new color to be used in recoloring the electronic visual object.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions for determining that the electronic visual object contains more than one initial color comprise:

instructions for determining, from a set of fill color style attributes of the visual design specification of the electronic visual object, that the electronic visual object contains more than one initial color.

The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein the instructions for determining, from the set of fill color style attributes of the visual design specification of the electronic visual object, that the electronic visual object contains more than one initial color comprise:

instructions for reading a set of fill color style attributes of the visual design specification to determine all instances of a fill color style attribute definition and that there is more than one defined value across all the instances of the fill color style attribute definition.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further comprise:

instructions for obtaining a set of red, green, and blue color values for each initial color of the electronic visual object.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further comprise:

instructions for receiving, via the graphical user interface, a selection of the electronic visual object.
