Abstract

Methods and apparatuses are described herein for a framework for data brokerage services in a service layer. A first apparatus may receive, from a second apparatus, a first signal comprising first information indicating a publishing intent associated with atopic indicator. The first apparatus may receive, from a third apparatus, a second signal comprising second information indicating a subscription intent associated with the topic indicator. The first apparatus may generate, based on the publishing intent and the subscription request, a topic instance. The first apparatus may send a third signal comprising an announcement message indicating the generated topic instance. The first apparatus may receive, from the third apparatus, a fourth signal comprising a subscription request for the generated topic instance. The first apparatus may send, to the third apparatus, at least one fifth signal comprising notifications and publish instances associated with the generated topic instance.

Claims (38)

1. An apparatus comprising a processor, a memory, and communication circuitry, the apparatus being connected to a network via its communication circuitry, the apparatus further comprising a service layer entity with computer-executable instructions stored in the memory of the apparatus which, when executed by the processor of the apparatus, cause the apparatus to perform operations comprising:

receiving, at the service layer entity, from a first entity, a first signal indicating a publishing intent associated with a topic indicator;

determining, based on one or more policies and consumer interest information, one or more consumers interested in messaging associated with the topic indicator;

sending, based on the determined one or more consumers interested in the messaging, advertisement information for a topic associated with the topic indicator;

receiving, based on the advertisement information and from a second entity hosted on a second apparatus, a subscription request associated with the topic indicator;

generating, based on the publishing intent and the subscription request, a topic instance; and

sending, to the second entity, based on the received subscription request, at least one second signal comprising one or more notifications and one or more publish instances associated with the generated topic instance, wherein each publish instance of the one or more publish instances is associated with a value indicative of a priority relative to one or more publishers.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the apparatus hosts the first entity.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first entity comprises an application layer entity.

4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the second entity comprises a service layer entity hosted on an Internet of Things (IOT) device.

5. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising computer-executable instructions stored in the memory of the apparatus which, when executed by the processor of the apparatus, cause the apparatus to perform further operations comprising:

arbitrating scope of advertising or message delivery based on at least one of: a policy of the one or more policies, an identifier associated with the apparatus, a location associated with the apparatus, a capability associated with the apparatus, or a time of day.

6. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising computer-executable instructions stored in the memory of the apparatus which, when executed by the processor of the apparatus, cause the apparatus to perform further operations comprising:

arbitrating the subscription request based on at least one of: an identifier associated with the second apparatus or a quality of service (QOS).

7. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one second signal is sent based on an access control policy (ACP).

8. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising computer-executable instructions stored in the memory of the apparatus which, when executed by the processor of the apparatus, cause the apparatus to perform further operations comprising:

redirecting the subscription request to the second entity.

9. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the second entity is a service layer entity.

10. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the subscription request is to be repeated and managed by the apparatus.

11. The apparatus of claim 10 , further comprising computer-executable instructions stored in the memory of the apparatus which, when executed by the processor of the apparatus, cause the apparatus to perform further operations comprising:

sending, to the second apparatus, the at least one second signal based on an update to the generated topic instance.

12. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the update is based on data associated with the generated topic instance exceeding a predetermined threshold.

13. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the topic indicator comprises an identifier of a collection of data objects that are related to each other.

14. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the topic indicator comprises an identifier characterizing signaling messages related to each other.

15. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising computer-executable instructions stored in the memory of the apparatus which, when executed by the processor of the apparatus, cause the apparatus to perform further operations comprising:

sending a third signal comprising an announcement message indicating:

the publishing intent and a message topic, or

the generated topic instance.

16. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising computer-executable instructions stored in the memory of the apparatus which, when executed by the processor of the apparatus, cause the apparatus to perform further operations comprising:

determining a status of the third apparatus based on at least one of a heartbeat message or a time duration since an update to the generated topic instance.

17. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the second entity comprises an application layer entity.

18. A method for use in an apparatus, the method comprising:

receiving, at a service layer entity, from a first entity, a first signal indicating a publishing intent associated with a topic indicator;

determining, based on one or more and consumer interest information, one or more consumers interested in messaging associated with the topic indicator;

sending, based on the determined one or more consumers interested in the messaging, advertisement information for a topic associated with the topic indicator;

receiving, based on the advertisement information and from a second entity hosted on a second apparatus, a subscription request associated with the topic indicator;

generating, based on the publishing intent and the subscription request, a topic instance; and

sending, to the second entity, based on the received subscription request, at least one second signal comprising one or more notifications and one or more publish instances associated with the generated topic instance, wherein each publish instance of the one or more publish instances is associated with a value indicative of a priority relative to one or more publishers.
