Abstract

A projectile launcher includes a drawstring, a frame, a limb, and a power cable. The frame includes a vertical grip. The limb includes a fixed end coupled to the frame rearward of the vertical grip and a free end positioned forward of the vertical grip. The power cable is coupled to the frame and operatively coupled with the limb. During operation of the projectile launcher, the limb flexes toward the frame as the drawstring moves to a drawn position.

Claims (69)

1. A projectile launcher comprising:

a drawstring;

a frame having a vertical grip;

a limb having a fixed end coupled to the frame rearward of the vertical grip and a free end positioned forward of the vertical grip; and

a power cable coupled to the frame and operatively coupled with the limb,

wherein, during operation of the projectile launcher, the free end of the limb flexes toward the frame as the drawstring moves to a drawn position.

2. The projectile launcher of claim 1 , further comprising:

a mid-limb support coupled with the frame and a portion of the limb between the fixed end and the free end.

3. The projectile launcher of claim 1 , wherein the limb is a first limb, the fixed end of the first limb coupled with a first side of the frame, the projectile launcher further comprising:

a second limb including a second fixed end, the second fixed end coupled with a second side of the frame,

wherein a distance from an outer surface of the first limb to an outer surface of the second limb is about 1 inch to about 6 inches.

4. The projectile launcher of claim 1 , wherein the limb is a first limb, the fixed end of the first limb coupled with a first side of the frame, the projectile launcher further comprising:

a second limb including a second fixed end, the second fixed end coupled with a second side of the frame,

wherein a distance from an outer surface of the first limb to an outer surface of the second limb is about 4.9 inches.

5. The projectile launcher of claim 1 , further comprising:

a projectile plane positioned vertically above the fixed end of the limb and vertically below the free end of the limb.

6. The projectile launcher of claim 1 , further comprising:

a mid-limb support coupled with the frame and a portion of the limb, the portion of the limb between the fixed end and the free end; and

a projectile plane positioned vertically above the fixed end of the limb, vertically below the free end of the limb, and vertically below at least a portion of the mid-limb support.

7. The projectile launcher of claim 1 , further comprising:

a pulley coupled with the limb proximate the free end of the limb;

a hub rotatably coupled to the frame; and

the power cable including a first end coupled to the frame and a second end coupled to the hub, the power cable routed through the pulley;

wherein, during operation of the projectile launcher, the power cable winds on the hub as the drawstring unwinds from the hub.

8. The projectile launcher of claim 1 , further comprising:

a pulley coupled with the limb proximate the free end of the limb;

a hub rotatably coupled to the frame; and

the power cable including a first end coupled to the frame and a second end coupled to the hub, the power cable routed through the pulley;

wherein, during operation of the projectile launcher, the power cable winds on the hub to draw the free end of the limb toward the hub in a substantially vertical direction as the drawstring unwinds from the hub.

9. The projectile launcher according to claim 1 , wherein the frame has a length of about 18.75 inches between a front end and a rear end of the frame.

10. A projectile launcher comprising:

a frame;

a hub rotatably coupled with the frame;

a drawstring coupled with the hub;

a limb having a fixed end coupled to the frame and a free end positioned vertically above the frame;

a pulley coupled to the limb proximate the free end of the limb; and

a power cable routed from the frame to the hub via the pulley.

11. The projectile launcher of claim 10 , further comprising:

a mid-limb support coupled to the frame and a portion of the limb between the fixed end and the free end of the limb.

12. The projectile launcher of claim 11 , further comprising:

the frame including a vertical grip,

wherein the mid-limb support is positioned forward of the vertical grip.

13. The projectile launcher of claim 11 , further comprising:

the frame including a vertical grip,

wherein the mid-limb support is positioned rearward of the vertical grip.

14. The projectile launcher of claim 10 , further comprising:

the power cable having a first end attached to the frame and a second end coupled with the hub,

wherein, during operation of the projectile launcher, the power cable winds about the hub to draw the free end of the limb towards the hub as the drawstring unwinds from the hub.

15. The projectile launcher of claim 10 , further comprising:

a projectile plane;

the power cable having a first end attached to the frame below the projectile plane and a second end coupled with the hub below the projectile plane, the power cable received in the pulley between the first end and the second end;

wherein the pulley is positioned vertically above the projectile plane with the projectile launcher in a released configuration.

16. The projectile launcher of claim 10 , further comprising:

a projectile plane;

the power cable having a first end attached to the frame below the projectile plane and a second end coupled with the hub below the projectile plane, the power cable received in the pulley between the first end and the second end;

wherein the pulley is positioned vertically above the projectile plane with the projectile launcher in a drawn configuration.

17. A projectile launcher, comprising:

a frame;

a projectile plane;

a limb having a free end and a fixed end coupled with the frame vertically below the projectile plane;

a hub rotatably coupled with the frame; and

a power cable having a first end attached to the frame and a second end coupled with the hub, the power cable operatively coupled with the limb.

18. The projectile launcher of claim 17 , further comprising:

a pulley coupled with the limb proximate the free end of the limb,

wherein the power cable is routed from the frame to the hub through the pulley.

19. The projectile launcher of claim 18 , further comprising:

wherein the pulley is positioned vertically above the projectile plane with the projectile launcher in a released configuration.

20. The projectile launcher of claim 18 , further comprising:

wherein the pulley is positioned vertically above the projectile plane with the projectile launcher in a drawn configuration.
