Flow-based processing in wireless systems
Apparatuses and methods of flow-based processing is wireless systems are described. For example, in one method, a WTRU may determine that one or more data units correspond to a flow of such data units. The WTRU may perform such determination as a function of one or more matching rule(s). Flow-based processing may be enabled in the layer 2/layer 1 chain by per-packet determination using one or more rules, for example by routing through the applicable processing functions and/or using the applicable configuration and/or mapping to the applicable uplink physical layer functions and/or resources. One or more functions such as scheduling request, buffer status reporting, HARQ processing, and/or radio link failure and recovery may be controlled based on the policy associated with the flow corresponding to the data being processed.
1. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), comprising:
circuitry comprising any of a transmitter, receiver, processor and memory, the circuitry configured to
determine current buffer status information, wherein the current buffer status information comprises a buffer level associated with at least one logical channel, wherein the buffer level indicates an amount of data for transmission for the at least one logical channel;
trigger a buffer status report (BSR);
receive configuration information indicating one or more logical channel prioritization rules configured for the at least one logical channel;
determine that available uplink resources for an uplink transmission fail to meet at least one of the logical channel prioritization rules configured for the at least one logical channel;
based on the available uplink resources for the uplink transmission failing to meet at least one of the logical channel prioritization rules, transmit a scheduling request (SR) in connection with the triggering of the buffer status report (BSR); and
receive a grant comprising uplink resources.
2. The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is configured to receive one or more scheduling request (SR) configurations.
3. The WTRU of claim 2 , wherein the grant is based on one of the scheduling request (SR) configurations.
4. The WTRU of claim 2 , wherein one of the scheduling request (SR) configurations is associated to the at least one logical channel.
5. The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the scheduling request (SR) is transmitted using resources associated with the at least one logical channel.
6. The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is configured to transmit the buffer status report (BSR) on the uplink resources.
7. The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the configuration information further indicates a scheduling request (SR) configuration applicable for the at least one logical channel.
8. The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the logical channel prioritization rules comprise criteria including one or more of:
allowed subcarrier spacings associated with an uplink grant;
a physical channel duration associated with the uplink grant;
a type of the uplink grant; and
cell information associated with the uplink grant.
9. A method, implemented by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), comprising:
determining current buffer status information, wherein the current buffer status information comprises a buffer level associated with at least one logical channel, wherein the buffer level indicates an amount of data for transmission for the at least one logical channel;
triggering a buffer status report (BSR);
receiving configuration information indicating one or more logical channel prioritization rules configured for the at least one logical channel;
determining that available uplink resources for an uplink transmission fail to meet at least one of the logical channel prioritization rules configured for the at least one logical channel;
based on the available uplink resources for the uplink transmission failing to meet the at least one of logical channel prioritization rules, transmitting a scheduling request (SR) in connection with the triggering of the buffer status report (BSR); and
receiving a grant comprising uplink resources.
10. The method of claim 9 , further comprising receiving one or more scheduling request (SR) configurations.
11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the grant is based on one of the scheduling request (SR) configurations.
12. The method of claim 10 , wherein one of the scheduling request (SR) configurations is associated to the at least one logical channel.
13. The method of claim 9 , wherein the scheduling request (SR) is transmitted using resources associated with the at least one logical channel.
14. The method of claim 9 , further comprising transmitting the buffer status report (BSR) on the uplink resources.
15. The method of claim 9 , wherein the configuration information further indicates a scheduling request (SR) configuration applicable for the at least one logical channel.
16. The method of claim 9 , wherein the logical channel prioritization rules comprise criteria including one or more of:
allowed subcarrier spacings associated with an uplink grant;
a physical channel duration associated with the uplink grant;
a type of the uplink grant; and
cell information associated with the uplink grant.
