Abstract

A refrigerator includes a first tray assembly defining a portion of an ice making cell and a second tray assembly defining another portion of the ice making cell. The refrigerator includes a pusher provided with a first edge on which a surface configured to press one or more of the first and second tray assemblies is disposed to easily separate the ice from the tray assemblies, a bar extending from the first edge, and a second edge disposed at an end of the bar. At least one of the pusher or the second tray assembly moves so as to change a relative position between the pusher and the second tray assembly.

Claims (52)

1. An ice maker comprising:

a liquid supply configured to supply a liquid;

a first tray assembly configured to form a first portion of a cell;

a second tray assembly configured to form a second portion of the cell, the first portion and the second portion to form a space to receive the liquid;

a driver configured to move the second tray assembly relative to the first tray assembly between a first position and a second position,

the first position being where the second portion of the cell contacts the first portion of the cell to form the space, and the liquid in the space is to be phase-changed into ice, and

the second position being where the second portion of the cell is spaced apart from the first portion of the cell such that the ice can be separated from the first and second tray assemblies; and

a pusher including a first edge, wherein a position of the first edge to be changed by a controller,

wherein a position of the first edge with respect to a vertical central line of the cell when the second tray assembly is at the first position is different from a position of the first edge with respect to the vertical central line of the cell when the second tray assembly is at the second position,

wherein a distance between the first edge and the vertical central line of the cell when the second tray assembly is at the first position is greater than a distance between the first edge and the vertical central line of the cell when the second tray assembly is at the second position, and

wherein the first edge is spaced apart from the vertical central line of the cell when the second tray assembly is at the first position.

2. The ice maker of claim 1 , further comprising a bracket to support the first tray assembly, and

wherein the liquid supply is coupled to the bracket.

3. The ice maker of claim 1 , wherein a horizontal distance between the first edge and a through hole of the liquid supply when the second tray assembly is at the first position is greater than a horizontal distance between the first edge and the through hole of the liquid supply when the second tray assembly is at the second position.

4. The ice maker of claim 1 , wherein when the second tray assembly moves from the second position to the first position, the first edge moves in a direction away from a through hole of the liquid supply.

5. The ice maker of claim 1 , wherein the pusher includes a bar that extends from the first edge.

6. The ice maker of claim 5 , wherein the pusher includes a second edge disposed at an end of the bar opposite from the first edge.

7. The ice maker of claim 6 , wherein a position of the second edge with respect to the vertical central line of the cell when the second tray assembly is at the first position is different from a position of the second edge with respect to the vertical central line of the cell when the second tray assembly is at the second position.

8. The ice maker of claim 1 , wherein the liquid supply includes a through hole that faces toward the cell, and when the second tray assembly is at the first position, the first edge is disposed farther from the cell than the through hole.

9. The ice maker of claim 1 , wherein the first tray assembly includes an auxiliary storage chamber configured to guide the liquid of the liquid supply to the cell, and

when the second tray assembly is at the first position, the first edge is disposed farther from the cell than the auxiliary storage chamber, and the first edge comprises a portion that does not overlap the auxiliary storage chamber in a vertical direction.

10. An ice maker comprising:

a liquid supply configured to supply a liquid;

a first tray assembly configured to form a first portion of a cell;

a second tray assembly configured to form a second portion of the cell, the first portion and the second portion to define a space to receive the liquid;

a driver configured to move the second tray assembly relative to the first tray assembly between a first position and a second position,

the first position being where the second portion of the cell contacts the first portion of the cell to form the space, and the liquid in the space is to change into ice, and

the second position being where the second portion of the cell is spaced apart from the first portion of the cell such that the ice can be separated from the first and second tray assemblies; and

a pusher including a first edge configured to change position based on a controller,

wherein the liquid supply includes a through hole that faces toward the cell, the liquid to be supplied to the cell passing through the through hole,

wherein when the second tray assembly is at a water supply position,

the first edge is disposed farther from the cell than the through hole, and the first edge comprises a portion positioned lower than a portion of the through hole.

11. The ice maker of claim 10 , wherein the pusher includes a bar that extends from the first edge.

12. The ice maker of claim 11 , wherein the pusher includes a second edge disposed at an end of the bar opposite from the first edge.

13. The ice maker of claim 12 , wherein when the second tray assembly is at the first position, the second edge is disposed farther from the cell than the through hole.

14. The ice maker of claim 10 , wherein the first tray assembly includes an auxiliary storage chamber configured to guide the liquid of the liquid supply to the cell, and

when the second tray assembly is at the first position, the first edge is disposed farther from the cell than the auxiliary storage chamber, and the first edge comprises a portion that does not overlap the auxiliary storage chamber in a vertical direction.

15. The ice maker of claim 10 , wherein a position of the first edge with respect to a vertical central line of the cell when the second tray assembly is at the first position is different from a position of the first edge with respect to the vertical central line of the cell when the second tray assembly is at the second position.

16. An ice maker comprising:

a liquid supply configured to supply a liquid;

a first tray assembly configured to form a first portion of a cell;

a second tray assembly configured to form a second portion of the cell, the first portion and the second portion to define a space to receive the liquid;

a driver configured to move the second tray assembly relative to the first tray assembly between a first position and a second position,
