Abstract

An example method of operation may include determining a frequency response to a measured chirp signal detected from one or more speakers, determining an average value of the frequency response based on a high limit value and a low limit value, subtracting a measured response from a target response, and the target response is based on one or more filter frequencies; determining a frequency limited target filter with audible parameters based on the subtraction, and applying an infinite impulse response (IIR) biquad filter based on an area defined by the frequency limited target filter to equalize the frequency response of the one or more speakers.

Claims (48)

1. A method, comprising:

determining a frequency response to a signal from one or more speakers;

subtracting the frequency response from a target frequency response of the one or more speakers;

determining a frequency-limited target filter based on the subtracting;

determining target zero crossings and derivative zeros of the frequency-limited target filter; and

applying an infinite impulse response (IIR) biquad filter to equalize the frequency response, wherein the IIR biquad filter is based on an area of a curve defined by the frequency-limited target filter.

2. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

normalizing the frequency response to zero decibels before the applying the IIR biquad filter.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the target frequency response is based on one or more filter frequencies associated with the IIR biquad filter.

4. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

limiting decibels of the frequency-limited target filter based on detected amplitude peaks to create a limited filter; and

adding the limited filter to a filter set.

5. The method of claim 4 , comprising:

adding unlimited equalization filters to the frequency response to provide an unlimited corrected response.

6. The method of claim 5 , comprising:

subtracting the unlimited corrected response from the target frequency response to provide a new target filter.

7. An apparatus, comprising:

a processor that, when executing one or more instructions stored in a memory, is configured to:

determine a frequency response to a signal from one or more speakers;

subtract the frequency response from a target frequency response of the one or more speakers;

determine a frequency-limited target filter based on the frequency response being subtracted from the target frequency response;

determine target zero crossings and derivative zeros of the frequency-limited target filter; and

apply an infinite impulse response (IIR) biquad filter to equalize the frequency response, wherein the IIR biquad filter is based on an area of a curve defined by the frequency-limited target filter.

8. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the processor is configured to:

normalize the frequency response to zero decibels before applying the IIR biquad filter.

9. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the target frequency response is based on one or more filter frequencies associated with the IIR biquad filter.

10. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the processor is configured to:

limit decibels of the frequency-limited target filter based on detected amplitude peaks to create a limited filter; and

add the limited filter to a filter set.

11. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

add unlimited equalization filters to the frequency response to provide an unlimited corrected response.

12. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

subtract the unlimited corrected response from the target frequency response to provide a new target filter.

13. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium configured to store instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform:

determining a frequency response to a signal from one or more speakers

subtracting the frequency response from a target frequency response of the one or more speakers;

determining a frequency-limited target filter based on the subtracting;

determining target zero crossings and derivative zeros of the frequency-limited target filter; and

applying an infinite impulse response (IIR) biquad filter to equalize the frequency response, wherein the IIR biquad filter is based on an area of a curve defined by the frequency-limited target filter.

14. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the instructions further cause the processor to perform:

normalizing the frequency response to zero decibels before the applying the IIR biquad filter.

15. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the target frequency response is based on one or more filter frequencies associated with the IIR biquad filter.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the instructions further cause the processor to perform:

limiting decibels of the frequency-limited target filter based on detected amplitude peaks to create a limited filter; and

adding the limited filter to a filter set.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 16 , wherein the instructions further cause processor to perform:

adding unlimited equalization filters to the frequency response to provide an unlimited corrected response; and

subtracting the unlimited corrected response from the target frequency response to provide a new target filter.
