Abstract

A video decoding method includes obtaining split information indicating whether to split a current block, splitting the current block into two or more lower blocks when the split information indicates to split the current block, obtaining encoding order information indicating an encoding order of the lower blocks of the current block, determining a decoding order of the lower blocks according to the encoding order information, and decoding the lower blocks according to the decoding order.

Claims (39)

1. A video decoding method, comprising:

obtaining, from a bitstream, split information indicating whether a current block is to be split into two or three horizontally neighboring lower blocks;

when the split information indicates that the current block is to be split into two horizontally neighboring lower blocks, splitting the current block into the two horizontally neighboring lower blocks;

determining a decoding order between a left lower block and a right lower block, among the two horizontally neighboring lower blocks, according to encoding order information obtained from the bitstream, wherein the right lower block is adjacent to a right side of the left lower block;

when the right lower block is decoded prior to the left lower block according to the decoding order, determining context information for a syntax element of prediction mode information of the left lower block based on a sum of a value of prediction mode information of the right lower block, a value of prediction mode information of a left block adjacent to a left side of the left lower block, and a value of prediction mode information of an upper block adjacent to an upper side of the left lower block, wherein the prediction mode information of the left lower block indicates whether the left lower block is predicted in an intra prediction mode, wherein the prediction mode information of the right lower block indicates whether the right lower block is predicted in the intra prediction mode, wherein the prediction mode information of the left block indicates whether the left block is predicted in the intra prediction mode, and wherein the prediction mode information of the upper block indicates whether the upper block is predicted in the intra prediction mode;

determining a context index for the syntax element of the prediction mode information of the left lower block using the context information;

performing context-adaptive arithmetic entropy-decoding using the context index to obtain the prediction mode information of the left lower block; and

when the prediction mode information of the left lower block indicates that the left lower block is predicted in the intra prediction mode, determining prediction samples of the left lower block using at least one of the left block, the upper block, and the right lower block.

2. A video decoding device, comprising:

a decoding order determiner configured to determine a decoding order between a left lower block and a right lower block, among two horizontally neighboring lower blocks split from a current block, according to encoding order information obtained from a bitstream, wherein the right lower block is adjacent to a right side of the left lower block; and

a decoder configured to:

obtain, from the bitstream, split information indicating whether the current block is to be split into two or three horizontally neighboring lower blocks;

when the split information indicates that the current block is to be split into the two horizontally neighboring lower blocks, split the current block into the two horizontally neighboring lower blocks;

when the right lower block is decoded prior to the left lower block according to the decoding order, determine context information for a syntax element of prediction mode information of the left lower block based on a sum of a value of prediction mode information of the right lower block, a value of prediction mode information of a left block adjacent to a left side of the left lower block, and a value of prediction mode information of an upper block adjacent to an upper side of the left lower block;

determine a context index for the syntax element of the prediction mode information of the left lower block using the context information;

perform context-adaptive arithmetic entropy decoding using the context index to obtain the prediction mode information of the left lower block; and

when the prediction mode information of the left lower block indicates that the left lower block is predicted in an intra prediction mode, determine prediction samples of the left lower block using at least one of the left block, the upper block, and the right lower block,

wherein the prediction mode information of the left lower block indicates whether the left lower block is predicted in the intra prediction mode,

wherein the prediction mode information of the right lower block indicates whether the right lower block is predicted in the intra prediction mode,

wherein the prediction mode information of the left block indicates whether the left block is predicted in the intra prediction mode, and

wherein the prediction mode information of the upper block indicates whether the upper block is predicted in the intra prediction mode.

3. A video encoding method, comprising:

generating split information indicating whether a current block is to be split into two or three horizontally neighboring lower blocks;

when the current block is to be split into two horizontally neighboring lower blocks, determining a coding order between a left lower block and a right lower block among the two horizontally neighboring lower blocks split from the current block, wherein the right lower block is adjacent to a right side of the left lower block;

when the right lower block is encoded prior to the left lower block according to the coding order:

when the left lower block is predicted in an intra prediction mode, determining prediction samples of the left lower block using at least one of a left block, an upper block, and the right lower block;

determining context information for a syntax element of prediction mode information of the left lower block based on a sum of a value of prediction mode information of the right lower block, a value of prediction mode information of the left block adjacent to a left side of the left lower block and a value of prediction mode information of the upper block adjacent to an upper side of the left lower block, wherein the prediction mode information of the left lower block indicates whether the left lower block is predicted in the intra prediction mode, and the prediction mode information of the right lower block indicates whether the right lower block is predicted in the intra prediction mode, wherein the prediction mode information of the left block indicates whether the left block is predicted in the intra prediction mode, and wherein the prediction mode information of the upper block indicates whether the upper block is predicted in the intra prediction mode;

determining a context index for the syntax element of the prediction mode information of the left lower block using the context information; and

performing context-adaptive arithmetic entropy encoding on the syntax element of the prediction mode information of the left lower block, using the context index.

4. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing a bitstream generated by a video encoding method, the bitstream comprising:

prediction mode information of a left lower block split from a current block to indicate whether the left lower block is predicted in an intra prediction mode,

wherein the video encoding method comprises:

generating split information indicating whether the current block is to be split into two or three horizontally neighboring lower blocks;

when the current block is to be split into two horizontally neighboring lower blocks, determining a coding order between the left lower block and a right lower block among the two horizontally neighboring lower blocks split from the current block, wherein the right lower block is adjacent to a right side of the left lower block;

when the right lower block is encoded prior to the left lower block according to the determined coding order:

when the left lower block is predicted in the intra prediction mode, determining prediction samples of the left lower block using at least one of a left block, an upper block, and the right lower block;

determining context information for a syntax element of the prediction mode information of the left lower block based on a sum of a value of prediction mode information of the right lower block, a value of prediction mode information of the left block adjacent to a left side of the left lower block and a value of prediction mode information of the upper block adjacent to an upper side of the left lower block, wherein the prediction mode information of the right lower block indicates whether the right lower block is predicted in the intra prediction mode, the prediction mode information of the left block indicates whether the left block is predicted in the intra prediction mode, and the prediction mode information of the upper block indicates whether the upper block is predicted in the intra prediction mode;

determining a context index for the syntax element of the prediction mode information of the left lower block using the context information; and

performing context-adaptive arithmetic entropy encoding on the syntax element of the prediction mode information of the left lower block, using the context index, to generate the bitstream.
