Abstract

A video encoding/decoding method and a video encoding/decoding apparatus are provided. The video decoding method includes determining at least two intra prediction modes based on intra prediction modes of neighboring blocks adjacent to a current block. The video decoding method further includes generating at least two prediction blocks using the at least two intra prediction modes. The video decoding method further includes generating a prediction block of the current block by performing a weighted average on the at least two prediction blocks.

Claims (40)

1. A video decoding method comprising:

determining at least two intra prediction modes based on intra prediction modes of neighboring blocks adjacent to a current block;

generating at least two prediction blocks using the at least two intra prediction modes; and

generating a prediction block of the current block by performing a weighted average on the at least two prediction blocks.

2. The video decoding method of claim 1 , wherein the at least two intra prediction modes are candidate modes selected from a Most Probable Mode (MPM) list.

3. The video decoding method of claim 2 , wherein the at least two intra prediction modes are a first candidate mode and a second candidate mode in the MPM list.

4. The video decoding method of claim 1 , wherein generating the prediction block of the current block comprising:

obtaining intra prediction mode information of the current block based on that the at least two intra prediction modes are non-directional modes; and

generating the prediction block of the current block based on the intra prediction mode information.

5. The video decoding method of claim 1 , wherein generating the at least two prediction blocks comprises generating a prediction block using a planar mode and a prediction block using the same directional mode based on that the at least two intra prediction modes are the same directional mode,

generating the prediction block of the current block comprises generating the prediction block of the current block by performing a weighted average on the prediction block using the planar mode and the prediction block using the same directional mode.

The video decoding method of claim 1 , wherein generating the at least two prediction blocks comprises generating a prediction block using a planar mode and a prediction block using a directional mode based on that the at least two intra prediction modes are the directional mode and a non-directional mode,

generating the prediction block of the current block comprises generating the prediction block of the current block by performing a weighted average on the prediction block using the planar mode and the prediction block using the directional mode.

The video decoding method of claim 1 , wherein generating the at least two prediction blocks comprises obtaining a first information indicating whether to use only the at least two intra prediction modes other than a planar mode, based on that the at least two intra prediction modes are different directional modes.

8. The video decoding method of claim 7 , wherein generating the at least two prediction blocks further comprising:

generating the at least two prediction blocks using the at least two intra prediction modes based on that the first information indicates that only the at least two intra prediction modes other than the planar mode are used.

The video decoding method of claim 7 , wherein generating the at least two prediction blocks further comprises generating a prediction block using the planar mode and at least two prediction blocks using the at least two intra prediction modes based on that the first information does not indicate that only the at least two intra prediction modes other than the planar mode are used,

generating the prediction block of the current block comprises generating the prediction block of the current block by performing a weighted average on the prediction block using the planar mode and the at least two prediction blocks using the at least two intra prediction modes.

The video decoding method of claim 1 , wherein generating the prediction block of the current block by performing the weighted average on the at least two prediction blocks comprises generating the prediction block of the current block by assigning fixed weight values to the at least two prediction blocks and adding these.

11. A video encoding method comprising:

determining at least two intra prediction modes based on intra prediction modes of neighboring blocks adjacent to a current block;

generating at least two prediction blocks using the at least two intra prediction modes; and

generating a prediction block of the current block by performing a weighted average on the at least two prediction blocks.

12. The video encoding method of claim 11 , wherein the at least two intra prediction modes are selected from an MPM list and are a first candidate mode and a second candidate mode from the MPM list.

13. The video encoding method of claim 11 , further comprising:

encoding intra prediction mode information of the current block based on that the at least two intra prediction modes are non-directional modes.

14. The video encoding method of claim 11 , wherein generating the at least two prediction blocks comprises generating a prediction block using a planar mode and a prediction block using the same directional mode based on that the at least two intra prediction modes are the same directional mode,

generating the prediction block of the current block comprises generating the prediction block of the current block by performing a weighted average on the prediction block using a planar mode and the prediction block using the same directional mode.

The video decoding method of claim 11 , wherein generating the at least two prediction blocks comprises generating a prediction block using a planar mode and a prediction block using a directional mode based on that the at least two intra prediction modes are the directional mode and a non-directional mode,

generating the prediction block of the current block comprises generating the prediction block of the current block by performing a weighted average on the prediction block using the planar mode and the prediction block using the directional mode.

The video encoding method of claim 11 , wherein generating the at least two prediction blocks comprises encoding a first information indicating whether to use only the at least two intra prediction modes other than a planar mode, based on that the at least two intra prediction modes are different directional modes.

17. The video encoding method of claim 16 , wherein generating the at least two prediction blocks further comprising:

generating the at least two prediction blocks using the at least two intra prediction modes based on that the first information indicates that only the at least two intra prediction modes other than the planar mode are used.

The video encoding method of claim 16 , wherein generating the at least two prediction blocks further comprises generating a prediction block using the planar mode and at least two prediction blocks using the at least two intra prediction modes based on that the first information does not indicate that only the at least two intra prediction modes other than the planar mode are used,

generating the prediction block of the current block comprises generating the prediction block of the current block by performing a weighted average on the prediction block using the planar mode and the at least two prediction blocks using the at least two intra prediction modes.

The video encoding method of claim 11 , wherein generating the prediction block of the current block by performing the weighted average on the at least two prediction blocks comprises generating the prediction block of the current block by assigning fixed weight values to the at least two prediction blocks and adding these.

20. A computer-readable recording medium storing a bitstream generated by a video encoding method, the video encoding method comprising:

determining at least two intra prediction modes based on intra prediction modes of neighboring blocks adjacent to a current block;

generating at least two prediction blocks using the at least two intra prediction modes; and

generating a prediction block of the current block by performing a weighted average on the at least two prediction blocks.
