Abstract

A cellular network system for cellular communications observability, the system comprising: domains comprising systems generating data from a cellular network employing a core and clusters created using a containerized application; an observability (OBF) layer configured to collect the data and store the data over all of the domains; and a streaming platform data store configured for ingesting and processing streaming data in real-time and distributing the data to applications requesting such data, wherein the streaming platform extends completely over the OBF layer so that all data collected by the OBF layer is available to the streaming platform data store; and at least one storage transport layer.

Claims (41)

1. A method for cellular communications observability of a cellular network system, the method comprising:

employing containerized applications to deploy a cellular network that utilizes clusters for virtual network functions of the cellular network;

identifying a plurality of domains of the cellular network, wherein the plurality of domains are managed by multiple vendors and comprise a core of the cellular network, physical hardware components of the cellular network, and the clusters;

collecting, using an observability layer of the cellular network, data from the plurality of domains of the cellular network, wherein the observability layer is located on a public network of the cellular network and connected to at least one of the virtual network functions of the cellular network;

storing, by the observability layer, the data according to configuration information of the clusters;

ingesting the data in real-time as a stream of events from the observability layer using a streaming platform data store of the cellular network, wherein the streaming platform data store extends completely over the observability layer so that all data collected by the observability layer is available to the streaming platform data store; and

enabling applications to hook into the stream of events and consume the data independently of each other by distributing the streamed real-time data from the streaming platform data store to the applications upon request.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein storing the data from the domains, comprises:

storing, by the observability layer, the data from multiple entities or vendors managing the domains at a single point or single database and on a common network location.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the streaming platform data store is a Kafka bus.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein storing the data from the domains, comprises:

storing, by the observability layer, the data from multiple entities or vendors managing the domains at a single point or single database and on a common network server.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the applications comprises at least one of security, automation, analytics, and assurance.

6. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium that stores instructions that, when executed by a processor in a computing system, cause the processor to perform actions, the actions comprising:

employing containerized applications to deploy a cellular network that utilizes clusters for virtual network functions of the cellular network;

identifying a plurality of domains of the cellular network, wherein the plurality of domains are managed by multiple vendors and comprise a core of the cellular network, physical hardware components of the cellular network, and the clusters;

collecting, using an observability layer of the cellular network, data from the plurality of domains of the cellular network, wherein the observability layer is located on a public network of the cellular network and connected to at least one of the virtual network functions of the cellular network;

storing, by the observability layer, the data according to configuration information of the clusters;

ingesting the data in real-time as a stream of events from the observability layer using a streaming platform data store of the cellular network, wherein the streaming platform data store extends completely over the observability layer so that all data collected by the observability layer is available to the streaming platform data store; and

enabling applications to hook into the stream of events and consume the data independently of each other by distributing the streamed real-time data from the streaming platform data store to the applications upon request.

7. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 6 , wherein storing the data from the domains, comprises:

storing, by the observability layer, the data from multiple entities or vendors managing the domains at a single point or single database and on a common network location.

8. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 6 , wherein storing the data from the domains, comprises:

storing, by the observability layer, the data from multiple entities or vendors managing the domains at a single point or single database and on a common network server.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 6 , wherein the streaming platform data store is a Kafka bus.

10. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 6 , wherein the applications comprises at least one of security, automation, analytics, and assurance.

11. A computer system for cellular communications observability of a cellular network system, the computer system comprising:

at least one memory configured to store computer instructions; and

at least one processor configured to execute to computer instructions to:

employ containerized applications to deploy a cellular network that utilizes clusters for virtual network functions of the cellular network;

identify a plurality of domains of the cellular network, wherein the plurality of domains are managed by multiple vendors and comprise a core of the cellular network, physical hardware components of the cellular network, and the clusters;

collect, using an observability layer of the cellular network, data from the plurality of domains of the cellular network, wherein the observability layer is located on a public network of the cellular network and connected to at least one of the virtual network functions of the cellular network;

store, by the observability layer, the data according to configuration information of the clusters;

ingest the data in real-time as a stream of events from the observability layer using a streaming platform data store of the cellular network, wherein the streaming platform data store extends completely over the observability layer so that all data collected by the observability layer is available to the streaming platform data store; and

enable applications to hook into the stream of events and consume the data independently of each other by distributing the streamed real-time data from the streaming platform data store to the applications upon request.

12. The computer system of claim 11 , wherein the at least one processor stores the data from the domains by being configured to further execute to computer instructions to:
