Abstract

A novel maize variety designated X16T125 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof are produced by crossing inbred maize varieties. Methods for producing a maize plant by crossing hybrid maize variety X16T125 with another maize plant are disclosed. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into X16T125 through backcrossing or genetic transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby are described. Maize variety X16T125, the seed, the plant produced from the seed, and variants, mutants, and minor modifications of maize variety X16T125 are provided. Methods for producing maize varieties derived from maize variety X16T125 and methods of using maize variety X16T125 are disclosed.

Claims (20)

. A seed of hybrid maize X16T125 produced by crossing a first plant of maize line PH11V8 with a second plant of maize line PH4CR8, wherein representative seeds of the maize lines PH11V8 and PH4CR8 have been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-11914 and NCMA Accession Number 202211023, respectively.

. A plant or plant part of hybrid maize X16T125 grown from the seed of claim 1 , wherein the plant part comprises at least one F1 hybrid maize X16T125 cell.

. A method of producing the seed of claim 1 , the method comprising crossing a plant of the maize line PH11V8 with a plant of the maize line PH4CR8.

. A seed of hybrid maize X16T125 produced by crossing a first plant of maize line PH11V8 with a second plant of maize line PH4CR8, wherein representative seeds of the maize lines PH11V8 and PH4CR8 have been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-11914 and NCMA Accession Number 202211023, respectively, further comprising a transgene, wherein the transgene is introduced by backcrossing or genetic transformation into the maize line PH11V8, the maize line PH4CR8, or both maize lines PH11V8 and PH4CR8.

. A seed of hybrid maize X16T125 further comprising a locus conversion, wherein the locus conversion is introduced by backcrossing or genetic transformation, wherein a plant grown from the seed comprises a trait conferred by the locus conversion, wherein the seed is produced by crossing a first plant of maize line PH11V8 with a second plant of maize line PH4CR8, wherein the first plant, the second plant or both further comprise the locus conversion, and wherein representative seeds of the maize lines PH11V8 and PH4CR8 have been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-11914 and NCMA Accession Number 202211023, respectively, and wherein the seed produces a plant having otherwise all the physiological and morphological characteristics as hybrid maize X16T125 when grown under the same environmental conditions.

. The hybrid maize X16T125 seed of claim 5 , wherein the locus conversion confers a property selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide tolerance, insect resistance, disease resistance, waxy starch, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified phytic acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism and modified protein metabolism.

. The hybrid maize X16T125 seed of claim 5 , further comprising a seed treatment on the surface of the seed.

. A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the hybrid maize X16T125 seed of claim 5 .

. A plant or plant part grown from the hybrid maize X16T125 seed of claim 5 , the plant part comprising at least one F1 hybrid maize X16T125 cell further comprising the locus conversion.

. A method of producing a commodity plant product comprising starch, syrup, silage, fat or protein, the method comprising producing the commodity plant product from the plant or plant part of claim 9 .

. A method for producing a second maize plant, the method comprising applying plant breeding techniques to the plant or plant part of claim 9 to produce the second maize plant.

. A method for producing a hybrid maize X16T125 seed of claim 4 , the method comprising crossing a first plant of maize line PH11V8 with a second plant of maize line PH4CR8, representative seeds of the maize lines PH11V8 and PH4CR8 having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-11914 and NCMA Accession Number 202211023, respectively, wherein at least one of the maize lines PH11V8 and PH4CR8 further comprises the transgene and wherein the transgene was introduced by backcrossing or transformation.

. The seed of claim 4 , further comprising a seed treatment on the surface of the seed.

. The seed of claim 4 , wherein the transgene confers a property selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide tolerance, insect resistance, disease resistance, waxy starch, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified phytic acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism and modified protein metabolism.

. A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the seed of claim 4 .

. A plant or plant part produced by growing the seed of claim 4 , the plant part comprising at least one F1 hybrid maize X16T125 cell further comprising the transgene.

. A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the plant or plant part of claim 16 .

. A method of producing a commodity plant product comprising starch, syrup, silage, fat or protein, the method comprising producing the commodity plant product from the plant or plant part of claim 16 .

. A method for producing a second maize plant, the method comprising crossing the maize plant or plant part of claim 16 with itself or with a different maize plant.

. A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the plant or plant part of claim 9 .
