Abstract

An encoder including circuitry and memory coupled to the circuitry. In a second type of residual coding among a first type of residual coding where an orthogonal transform is applied to a current block and the second type of residual coding where the orthogonal transform is skipped for the current block, wherein a first syntax used for the first type of residual coding is different from a second syntax used for the second type of residual coding, the circuitry: in a first loop process, derives a context index by using at least one of a plurality of surrounding coefficients; and encodes a plurality of coefficient information flags by CABAC with the derived context index; and in a second loop process of the plurality of loop processes, encodes a plurality of absolute value flags by CABAC with another context index.

Claims (20)

1 . An encoder comprising:

circuitry; and

memory coupled to the circuitry, wherein

in a second type of residual coding among a first type of residual coding where an orthogonal transform is applied to a current block and the second type of residual coding where the orthogonal transform is skipped for the current block, wherein a first syntax used for the first type of residual coding is different from a second syntax used for the second type of residual coding, the circuitry:

sequentially performs a plurality of loop processes that are different from one another, each of the plurality of loop processes being repeatedly performed, on a per coefficient basis, for a plurality of coefficients within the current block;

in a first loop process of the plurality of loop processes,

derives a context index by using at least one of a plurality of surrounding coefficients of a coefficient within the current block, and

encodes a plurality of coefficient information flags by Context-based Adaptive Binary Arithmetic Coding (CABAC) with the derived context index, each of the plurality of coefficient information flags relating to the coefficient;

in a second loop process of the plurality of loop processes,

encodes a plurality of absolute value flags relating to the coefficient by CABAC with another context index that is different from the derived context index; and

by performing the second loop process, on the per coefficient basis, for the plurality of coefficients within the current block, encodes the plurality of absolute value flags relating to a second coefficient within the current block after encoding the plurality of absolute value flags relating to a first coefficient within the current block.

2 . An encoding method, wherein

in a second type of residual coding among a first type of residual coding where an orthogonal transform is applied to a current block and the second type of residual coding where the orthogonal transform is skipped for the current block, wherein a first syntax used for the first type of residual coding is different from a second syntax used for the second type of residual coding, the encoding method includes:

sequentially performing a plurality of loop processes that are different from one another, each of the plurality of loop processes being repeatedly performed, on a per coefficient basis, for a plurality of coefficients within the current block;

in a first loop process of the plurality of loop processes,

deriving a context index by using at least one of a plurality of surrounding coefficients of a coefficient within the current block, and

encoding a plurality of coefficient information flags by Context-based Adaptive Binary Arithmetic Coding (CABAC) with the derived context index, each of the plurality of coefficient information flags relating to the coefficient;

in a second loop process of the plurality of loop processes,

encoding a plurality of absolute value flags relating to the coefficient by CABAC with another context index that is different from the derived context index; and

by performing the second loop process, on the per coefficient basis, for the plurality of coefficients within the current block, encoding the plurality of absolute value flags relating to a second coefficient within the current block after encoding the plurality of absolute value flags relating to a first coefficient within the current block.
