Abstract

Techniques described herein are directed to centralized brand asset management. In an example, a first computing device associated with a first point-of-sale (POS) service can receive an instruction to update a web page of a merchant, wherein the instruction to update the web page of the merchant changes a brand asset of the merchant. The first computing device can send a request to update the brand asset of the merchant to a centralized data storage storing one or more brand assets of one or more merchants. The centralized data storage can update the brand asset to an updated brand asset, which can be available to at least a second computing device associated with a second POS service. The second POS service can update a respective POS service feature based on the updated brand asset.

Claims (58)

1 . A computer-implemented method for streamlining web page editing for a merchant associated with a payment processing service and having a point-of-sale (POS) system in a brick-and-mortar store, the computer-implemented method comprising:

receiving, at one or more servers of the payment processing service and from an instance of a payment application executing on a computing device of the merchant, transaction data associated with POS transactions for sales of items to customers by the merchant, wherein the payment processing service is a third-party to the merchant and the customers and the transaction data is processed by the one or more servers of the payment processing service;

storing, in a datastore maintained by the payment processing service, (1) the transaction data, and (2) a merchant profile corresponding to the merchant and maintained by the payment processing service, wherein the merchant profile includes merchant data indicating a merchant category code (MCC) and a current inventory of items offered for sale by the merchant;

receiving, by one or more computing devices of a web page editing service associated with the payment processing service, and from an instance of a web page editing application executing on the computing device of the merchant, a request to create a web page;

based at least in part on receiving the request to create the web page, requesting, by the one or more computing devices of the web page editing service, permission from the merchant to sync with the datastore maintained by the payment processing service;

based at least in part on receiving permission, syncing, by the one or more computing devices of the web page editing service, data associated with the merchant between the payment processing service and the web page editing service; and

based at least in part on the synced data, performing one or more acts including at least one of:

causing presentation of a customized web page editing user interface to enable creation of the web page; or

generating, by the one or more computing devices of the web page editing service, a customized web page for the merchant, wherein the customized web page includes prepopulated information based at least in part on the transaction data and the merchant data.

2 . The computer-implemented method as claim 1 recites, wherein the merchant has not previously used the web page editing application to create a web page.

3 . A system comprising:

one or more processors; and

one or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

receiving, at one or more servers of a payment processing service and from an instance of a payment application executing on a computing device of a merchant, transaction data associated with one or more point-of-sale (POS) transactions for sales of items to customers by the merchant, the one or more POS transactions completed via a POS device at a brick-and-mortar store of the merchant, wherein the payment processing service is a third-party to the merchant and the customers and the transaction data is processed by the one or more servers of the payment processing service;

storing, in a datastore maintained by the payment processing service, (1) the transaction data, and (2) a merchant profile corresponding to the merchant and maintained by the payment processing service, wherein the merchant profile indicates a current inventory of items offered for sale by the merchant;

receiving, at one or more computing devices of a web page editing service associated with the payment processing service, and from an instance of a web page editing application executing on the computing device of the merchant, a request to create a web page associated with an online store of the merchant;

based at least in part on receiving the request to create the web page, requesting, by the one or more computing devices of the web page editing service, permission from the merchant to sync with the datastore maintained by the payment processing service;

based at least in part on receiving permission, syncing, by the one or more computing devices of the web page editing service, data associated with the merchant between the payment processing service and the web page editing service; and

causing presentation of a customized web page editing user interface to enable creation of the web page, wherein the customized web page editing user interface is based at least in part on the synced data including the transaction data and the merchant profile corresponding to the merchant.

4 . The system as claim 3 recites, wherein the merchant profile is additionally associated with merchant data indicating a merchant category code (MCC).

5 . The system as claim 3 recites, the operations further comprising:

determining, based at least in part on the merchant profile, merchant profiles of a plurality of other merchants, and a machine learning mechanism, one or more other merchants having characteristics in common with the merchant; and accessing another web page associated with at least one of the one or more other merchants, wherein the customized web page editing user interface is based at least in part on the other web page.

6 . The system as claim 3 recites, the operations further comprising:

determining, based at least in part on the merchant profile, at least one of (i) a web page layout comprising a framework, one or more sections, and one or more elements or (ii) a web page design; and

causing presentation of, via the customized web page editing user interface, a recommendation to create the web page based at least in part on at least one of (i) the web page layout or (ii) the web page design.

7 . The system as claim 3 recites, the operations further comprising updating at least a portion of the merchant profile based at least in part on a creation of the web page.

8 . The system as claim 3 recites, the operations further comprising customizing a mechanism for the creation of the web page based at least in part on the merchant profile.

9 . The system as claim 3 recites, the operations further comprising:

determining information from the merchant profile; and

causing presentation, via the customized web page editing user interface, of a recommendation to add content to the web page, wherein the content is based at least in part on the information.

10 . The system as claim 9 recites, wherein causing presentation of the recommendation to add the content to the web page comprises prepopulating at least a portion of the web page with the content.

11 . The system as claim 3 recites, the operations further comprising:

determining, based at least in part on the merchant profile, a web page component to be added to the web page; and

causing presentation, via the customized web page editing user interface, of a recommendation to add the web page component to the web page.

The system as claim 11 recites, wherein the recommendation is based at least in part on a relevance score for the web page component meeting a predefined criterion, and wherein the relevance score is associated with the merchant profile and based at least in part on a machine-learning mechanism.

13 . The system as claim 11 recites, wherein causing presentation of the recommendation comprises causing presentation of pop-up, a callout, or other directive in associated with the customized web page editing user interface.

14 . One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

receiving, at one or more servers of a payment processing service and from an instance of a payment application executing on a computing device of a merchant, transaction data associated with point-of-sale (POS) transactions for sales of items to customers by the merchant, wherein the merchant is associated with a POS system in a brick-and-mortar store, and wherein the payment processing service is a third-party to the merchant and the customers and the transaction data is processed by the one or more servers of the payment processing service;

storing, in a datastore maintained by the payment processing service, (1) the transaction data, and (2) a merchant profile corresponding to the merchant and maintained by the payment processing service, wherein the merchant profile includes merchant data indicating a merchant category code (MCC) and a current inventory of the items offered for sale by the merchant;

receiving, by one or more computing devices of a web page editing service associated with the payment processing service, and from an instance of a web page editing application executing on the computing device of the merchant, a request to create a web page;

based at least in part on receiving the request to create the web page, requesting, by the one or more computing devices of the web page editing service, permission from the merchant to sync with the datastore maintained by the payment processing service;

based at least in part on receiving permission, syncing, by the one or more computing devices of the web page editing service, data associated with the merchant between the payment processing service and the web page editing service; and

based at least in part on the synced data, generating, by the one or more computing devices of the web page editing service, a customized web page for the merchant, wherein the customized web page includes prepopulated information based at least in part on the transaction data and the merchant data.

15 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media as claim 14 recites, the operations further comprising causing presentation, via the web page editing application, of the customized web page.

16 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media as claim 14 recites, the operations further comprising:

determining, based at least in part on the synced data, a web page component to be added to the customized web page; and

causing presentation, by the one or more computing devices of the web page editing service and via the web page editing application, a recommendation to add the web page component to the customized web page.

17 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media as claim 14 recites, the operations further comprising:

determining, based at least in part on the synced data, a web page layout comprising a framework, one or more sections in the framework, and one or more elements in the one or more sections; and

configuring the customized web page based on the web page layout.

18 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media as claim 14 recites, the operations further comprising:

receiving, via the one or more servers of the payment processing service, an update to the current inventory of items offered for sale by the merchant; and

sending, from the one or more servers of the payment processing service to the one or more computing devices of the web page editing service, an instruction to update the customized web page based on the update to the current inventory of items offered for sale by the merchant, the one or more computing devices of the web page editing service sending the instruction to update the customized web page to the computing device of the merchant.

19 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media as claim 14 recites, the operations further comprising:

receiving, at the one or more computing devices of the web page editing service, an image representative of an item of the current inventory of items offered for sale by the merchant for presentation on the customized web page;

sending, from the one or more computing devices of the web page editing service, the image to the one or more servers of the payment processing service; and

associating, by the one or more servers of the payment processing service, the image with the item in the current inventory of the items offered for sale by the merchant, the image being used by the POS system in the brick-and-mortar store.

20 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media as claim 14 recites, wherein the current inventory of items includes an indication of quantities of at least one of the items offered for sale by the merchant.
