Abstract

In one example, a computing system is described. The computing system is configured to perform a set of acts that includes obtaining, from a DEP, a non-redacted unique viewer count for a set of digital content exposures. The set of acts also includes obtaining, from the DEP via the protected cloud environment, a redacted exposures count for the set of digital content exposures. In addition, the set of acts includes determining, using an inverted reach curve and the non-redacted unique viewer count, an initial exposures value for the set of digital content exposures. The set of acts also includes scaling the initial exposures value using the redacted exposures count to obtain a final exposures value. Further, the set of acts includes determining, using a reach curve and the final exposures value, a final unique viewer count for the set of digital content exposures, and outputting the final unique viewer count.

Claims (44)

1 . A computing system comprising a processor and a memory, the computing system configured to perform a set of acts comprising:

obtaining, from a data enrichment provider (DEP), a non-redacted unique viewer count for a set of digital content exposures, wherein DEP provides a protected cloud environment for enriching digital content exposures, and wherein the non-redacted unique viewer count is obtained via the protected cloud environment;

obtaining, from the DEP via the protected cloud environment, a redacted exposures count for the set of digital content exposures;

determining, using an inverted reach curve and the non-redacted unique viewer count, an initial exposures value for the set of digital content exposures;

scaling the initial exposures value using the redacted exposures count to obtain a final exposures value;

determining, using a reach curve and the final exposures value, a final unique viewer count for the set of digital content exposures; and

outputting the final unique viewer count for the set of digital content exposures.

2 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the redacted exposures count is a sum of exposures for which user-level information is redacted by the DEP.

3 . The computing system of claim 2 , wherein the reach curve defines a non-linear relationship between exposures and unique viewers for the set of digital content exposures.

4 . The computing system of claim 3 , wherein the set of acts further comprises determining the reach curve using panel data for the set of digital content exposures.

5 . The computing system of claim 4 , wherein the panel data for the set of digital content exposures is indicative of a distribution that reflects a relative frequency of viewing among panelists.

6 . The computing system of claim 5 , wherein:

the set of acts further comprises determining expected audiences for a range of possible numbers of exposures using the distribution, and

determining the reach curve comprises determining the reach curve using the expected audiences for the range of possible numbers of exposures.

7 . The computing system of claim 4 , wherein the panel data is collected using meters installed on computing devices of panelists of an audience measurement entity.

8 . A method comprising:

obtaining, from a data enrichment provider (DEP), a non-redacted unique viewer count for a set of digital content exposures, wherein DEP provides a protected cloud environment for enriching digital content exposures, and wherein the non-redacted unique viewer count is obtained via the protected cloud environment;

obtaining, from the DEP via the protected cloud environment, a redacted exposures count for the set of digital content exposures;

determining, using an inverted reach curve and the non-redacted unique viewer count, an initial exposures value for the set of digital content exposures;

scaling the initial exposures value using the redacted exposures count to obtain a final exposures value;

determining, using a reach curve and the final exposures value, a final unique viewer count for the set of digital content exposures; and

outputting the final unique viewer count for the set of digital content exposures.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the redacted exposures count is a sum of exposures for which user-level information is redacted by the DEP.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the reach curve defines a non-linear relationship between exposures and unique viewers for the set of digital content exposures.

11 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising determining the reach curve using panel data for the set of digital content exposures.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the panel data for the set of digital content exposures is indicative of a distribution that reflects a relative frequency of viewing among panelists.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein:

the method further comprises determining expected audiences for a range of possible numbers of exposures using the distribution, and

determining the reach curve comprises determining the reach curve using the expected audiences for the range of possible numbers of exposures.

14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the panel data is collected using meters installed on computing devices of panelists of an audience measurement entity.

15 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored therein instructions that when executed by a computing system cause the computing system to perform a set of acts comprising:

obtaining, from a data enrichment provider (DEP), a non-redacted unique viewer count for a set of digital content exposures, wherein DEP provides a protected cloud environment for enriching digital content exposures, and wherein the non-redacted unique viewer count is obtained via the protected cloud environment;

obtaining, from the DEP via the protected cloud environment, a redacted exposures count for the set of digital content exposures;

determining, using an inverted reach curve and the non-redacted unique viewer count, an initial exposures value for the set of digital content exposures;

scaling the initial exposures value using the redacted exposures count to obtain a final exposures value;

determining, using a reach curve and the final exposures value, a final unique viewer count for the set of digital content exposures; and

outputting the final unique viewer count for the set of digital content exposures.

16 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the redacted exposures count is a sum of exposures for which user-level information is redacted by the DEP.

17 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the reach curve defines a non-linear relationship between exposures and unique viewers for the set of digital content exposures.

18 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the set of acts further comprises determining the reach curve using panel data for the set of digital content exposures.

19 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the panel data for the set of digital content exposures is indicative of a distribution that reflects a relative frequency of viewing among panelists.

20 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein:

the set of acts further comprises determining expected audiences for a range of possible numbers of exposures using the distribution, and

determining the reach curve comprises determining the reach curve using the expected audiences for the range of possible numbers of exposures.
