Abstract

Provided is an air treatment apparatus comprising an air flow generator arranged to generate an air flow, a moisture source arranged to introduce water vapour into the air flow, a body that in use surrounds both air flow generator and the moisture source, and a water supply system arranged to provide water to the moisture source. The water supply system comprises a water tank assembly separable from the body, the water tank assembly comprising a water tank, a water supply pipe arranged to convey water from water tank, and an ultraviolet light source arranged to irradiate the water passing through the water supply pipe. The water tank comprises a tank opening and the water tank assembly further comprises a removable tank cap that is arranged to fit over the tank opening, with the ultraviolet light source and the water supply pipe being provided on the removable tank cap.

Claims (18)

1 . An air treatment apparatus comprising:

an air flow generator that is arranged to generate an air flow;

a moisture source that is arranged to introduce water vapour into the air flow;

a body that in use surrounds both air flow generator and the moisture source; and

a water supply system that is arranged to provide water to the moisture source;

wherein the water supply system comprises a water tank assembly that is separable from the body, the water tank assembly comprising a water tank, a water supply pipe at least partially disposed within the water tank and arranged to convey water from water tank towards the moisture source, and an ultraviolet light source arranged to irradiate the water passing through the water supply pipe with ultraviolet light;

wherein the water supply pipe comprises a first end, a second end, the second end covered by an ultraviolet transparent window, the ultraviolet transparent window arranged adjacent to the ultraviolet light source, wherein the first end and the water supply pipe is configured to reflect ultraviolet light, and wherein the water supply pipe is arranged such that water from the water tank enters the water supply pipe adjacent to the first end through an inlet and exits the water supply pipe adjacent to the second end through an outlet, the outlet having an aperture in a side of the water supply pipe and a channel that extends tangentially away from the aperture such that the flow of water forms a vortex within the water supply tube; and

wherein the water tank comprises a tank opening and the water tank assembly further comprises a removable tank cap that is arranged to fit over and thereby occlude the tank opening, and wherein the ultraviolet light source and the water supply pipe are provided on the removable tank cap.

2 . The air treatment apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the removable tank cap is arranged to be releasably retained on the water tank.

3 . The air treatment apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the body comprises an air inlet through which the air flow is drawn into the body and an air outlet for emitting the air flow from the body.

4 . The air treatment apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the ultraviolet light source is arranged to longitudinally irradiate the interior of the water supply pipe through the ultraviolet transparent window.

5 . The air treatment apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the water supply pipe comprises a lateral water inlet provided in a side of the water supply pipe at the first end of the water supply pipe and a lateral water outlet provided in a side of the water supply pipe at the second end of the water supply pipe.

6 . The air treatment apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the water supply system further comprises a water pump for pumping water from the water tank through the water supply pipe.

7 . The air treatment apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the water pump is provided on the removable tank cap.

8 . The air treatment apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the removable tank cap is provided with a pump housing and the water pump is contained within the pump housing.

9 . The air treatment apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the pump housing projects from the removable tank cap so that the pump is disposed within the water tank when the removable tank cap is disposed over the tank opening.

10 . The air treatment apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the removable tank cap comprises a water supply outlet through which water pumped from the water tank is conveyed out of the removable tank cap.

11 . The air treatment apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the water supply pipe is disposed between the water pump and the water supply outlet.
