Abstract

Prosthetic heart valves described herein can be deployed using a transcatheter delivery system and technique to interface and anchor in cooperation with the anatomical structures of a native heart valve. Deployment systems and methods for using the deployment systems described herein facilitate accurately and conveniently controllable percutaneous, transcatheter techniques by which the prosthetic heart valves can be delivered and deployed within a patient.

Claims (26)

1 . A deployment frame system for controlling relative movements of a system of multiple catheters wherein at least one catheter of the multiple catheters is configured to deliver a medical device, the deployment frame system comprising:

a first frame;

a plurality of clamps supported by the first frame, the plurality of clamps including a first clamp coupled to a first catheter of the multiple catheters and a second clamp coupled to a second catheter of the multiple catheters,

wherein the first clamp is releasably coupled to the first catheter between a locked configuration and an unlocked configuration, and in the locked configuration the first catheter is prohibited from rotating and in the unlocked configuration the first catheter is permitted to rotate while the second catheter is prohibited from rotating.

2 . The deployment frame of claim 1 , further comprising a second clamp of the plurality of clamps supported by the first frame, the second clamp releasably coupled to the second catheter between a locked configuration and an unlocked configuration, and in the locked configuration the second catheter is prohibited from rotating and in the unlocked configuration the second catheter is permitted to rotate.

3 . The deployment frame of claim 2 , wherein the first clamp and the second clamp are translatable along the first frame.

4 . The deployment frame of claim 2 , further comprising a third clamp of the plurality of clamps, the third clamp releasably coupled to a third catheter of the plurality of catheters, the third catheter defining a lumen, and the first catheter and the second catheter being disposable within the lumen.

5 . The deployment frame of claim 4 , wherein the third clamp is positioned distally on the deployment frame relative to the first clamp and the second clamp.

6 . The deployment frame of claim 4 , further comprising a fourth clamp of the plurality of clamps, the fourth clamp releasably coupled to a fourth catheter of the plurality of catheters, the fourth catheter configured to deliver a second medical device.

7 . The deployment frame of claim 6 , wherein the fourth clamp is positioned longitudinally intermediate the third clamp and the first clamp.

8 . The deployment frame of claim 7 , wherein the first catheter is coupled to the medical device, and the medical device is a valve assembly of a prosthetic mitral valve system.

9 . The deployment frame of claim 7 , wherein the second medical device is an anchor assembly of the prosthetic mitral valve system.

10 . A method of operating a deployment frame system for controlling relative movements of a system of multiple catheters including a plurality of clamps supported by a first frame and releasably coupled to the system of multiple catheters for implanting a prosthetic mitral valve system, comprising:

manipulating a first clamp of the plurality of clamps to unlock relative to a first catheter of the plurality of catheters, the first catheter being coupled to a prosthetic mitral valve of the prosthetic mitral valve system at a distal end of the first catheter;

rotating the first catheter of the plurality of catheters while a second catheter of the plurality of catheters is prohibited from rotating; and

manipulating the first clamp of the plurality of clamps to lock relative to the first catheter of the plurality of catheters to rigidly hold the first catheter.

11 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:

manipulating a deflection actuator coupled to the first catheter, the deflection actuator operable to control a deflection zone of the first catheter.

12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising a second clamp of the plurality of clamps releasably coupled to a second catheter of the multiple catheters.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the first catheter defines a lumen, and the second catheter is disposable within the lumen.

14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the second clamp is located proximally along the deployment frame system relative to the first clamp.

15 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising:

manipulating the second clamp of the plurality of clamps to unlock relative to the second catheter of the plurality of catheters;

rotating the second catheter of the plurality of catheters while the first catheter of the plurality of catheters is prohibited from moving; and

manipulating the second clamp of the plurality of clamps to lock relative to the second catheter of the plurality of catheters to rigidly hold the second catheter.

16 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the first clamp is translatable along the deployment frame system.
