Uplink transmission for multi-panel operation
Methods, systems, and storage media are described for uplink transmission for multi-panel operation. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.
1 . A method comprising:
determining a maximum number of antenna ports of a user equipment (UE) for transmitting a Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) in a communications network;
generating a message that includes capability information of the UE, the capability information comprising an index specifying the maximum number of antenna ports of the UE for transmitting the SRS;
transmitting the message to a base station in the communications network;
transmitting, to the base station, an indication of a first uplink control information (UCI) type via a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) message using a plurality of antenna ports; and
transmitting an indication of a second UCI type via a second PUCCH message using the plurality of antenna ports.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of antenna ports are associated with a plurality of panels of the UE, the method further comprising:
transmitting, to the base station, an indication of the first UCI type via the PUCCH message using a first panel of the plurality of panels; and
transmitting an indication of the second UCI type via the second PUCCH message using a second panel of the plurality of panels.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the capability information further comprises information indicating a power control parameter for each respective panel of the plurality of panels.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first UCI type is a hybrid automatic request-acknowledge (HARQ-ACK), and the second UCI type is a channel state information (CSI) report or scheduling request (SR).
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the capability information comprises information indicating a maximum number of beams that can be simultaneously transmitted by the UE using the plurality of antenna ports.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein one or more of the beams that can be simultaneously transmitted by the UE using the plurality of antenna ports are associated with the SRS.
7 . The method of claim 1 ,
wherein the PUCCH message and the second PUCCH message are multiplexed using the plurality of antenna ports.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein transmitting the message to the base station comprises transmitting a message comprising a measurement report and the capability information of the UE.
9 . An apparatus comprising:
one or more processors that are configured to execute instructions stored in memory to perform operations comprising:
determining a maximum number of antenna ports of a user equipment (UE) for transmitting a Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) in a communications network;
generating a message that includes capability information of the UE, the capability information comprising an index specifying the maximum number of antenna ports of the UE for transmitting the SRS;
transmitting the message to a base station in the communications network;
transmitting, to the base station, an indication of a first uplink control information (UCI) type via a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) message using a plurality of antenna ports; and
transmitting an indication of a second UCI type via a second PUCCH message using the plurality of antenna ports.
10 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the plurality of antenna ports are associated with a plurality of panels of the UE, the operations further comprising:
transmitting, to the base station, an indication of the first UCI type via the PUCCH message using a first panel of the plurality of panels; and
transmitting an indication of the second UCI type via the second PUCCH message using a second panel of the plurality of panels.
11 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the capability information further comprises information indicating a power control parameter for each respective panel of the plurality of panels.
12 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the first UCI type is a hybrid automatic request-acknowledge (HARQ-ACK), and the second UCI type is a channel state information (CSI) report or scheduling request (SR).
13 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the capability information comprises information indicating a maximum number of beams that can be simultaneously transmitted by the UE using the plurality of antenna ports, and wherein one or more of the beams that can be simultaneously transmitted by the UE using the plurality of antenna ports are associated with the SRS.
14 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the one or more processors are included in the UE.
15 . A method comprising:
transmitting, to a user equipment (UE) in a communications network, a configuration message that includes information indicating a plurality of antenna ports of the UE that can be used for transmitting a Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) in the communications network;
receiving, from the UE, a message that includes capability information of the UE, the capability information comprising an index specifying a maximum number of antenna ports of the UE for transmitting the SRS;
receiving, from the UE, an indication of a first uplink control information (UCI) type via a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) message using a plurality of antenna ports; and
receiving, from the UE, an indication of a second UCI type via a second PUCCH message using the plurality of antenna ports.
16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the plurality of antenna ports are associated with a plurality of panels of the UE, the method further comprising:
receiving, from the UE, an indication of the first type via the PUCCH message using a first panel of the plurality of panels; and
receiving, from the UE, an indication of the second UCI type via the second PUCCH message using a second panel of the plurality of panels.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the capability information further comprises information indicating a power control parameter for each respective panel of the plurality of panels.
18 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the first UCI type is a hybrid automatic request-acknowledge (HARQ-ACK), and the second UCI type is a channel state information (CSI) report or scheduling request (SR).
19 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the capability information comprises information indicating a maximum number of beams that can be simultaneously transmitted by the UE using the plurality of antenna ports and wherein one or more of the beams that can be simultaneously transmitted by the UE using the plurality of antenna ports are associated with the SRS.
