Abstract

Systems and methods of operating power tools. The method includes receiving a command to start a recording mode at a first electronic processor of a first power tool, and receiving at the first electronic processor, a measured parameter from a sensor of the first power tool while a first motor of the first power tool is operating. The method also includes generating a recorded motor parameter by recording the measured parameter, on a first memory of the first power tool, when the first power tool operates in the recording mode, and transmitting, with a first transceiver of the first power tool, the recorded motor parameter. The method further includes receiving the recorded motor parameter at an external device, transmitting the recorded motor parameter to a second power tool via the external device, and receiving the recorded motor parameter via a second transceiver of the second power tool.

The communication system of claim 1 , wherein the motor parameter includes at least one of a group consisting of a motor speed, a motor torque, a motor power, a number of impact blows, a pulse width modulation (PWM) duty cycle indicative of an amount of actuation of the actuator of the second power tool, and combinations thereof; and

wherein the tool operation data includes at least one of a group consisting of a current level, the motor speed, a motor acceleration, a motor direction, the number of impact blows, a record of work that was performed by the first power tool, a duration of tool usage, and combinations thereof.

3 . The communication system of claim 2 , wherein the second motor is controlled in accordance with the motor parameter regardless of whether a trigger activation signal indicative of an amount of actuation of the actuator matches the motor parameter.

4 . The communication system of claim 3 , wherein the first power tool and the first external device are associated with a first user, and wherein the second power tool and the second external device are associated with a second user.

5 . The communication system of claim 1 , wherein the motor parameter includes a pre-recorded motor parameter recorded by the first power tool during the operation of the first motor of the first power tool; and

wherein the second electronic processor is configured to control the second motor in accordance with the motor parameter by replicating the operation of the first motor of the first power tool according to the pre-recorded motor parameter.

6 . The communication system of claim 1 , wherein the second electronic processor is configured to receive the motor parameter from the second external device, wherein the tool operation data is receivable by the second external device from the server.

7 . The communication system of claim 1 , wherein the second electronic processor is configured to:

receive, via the second transceiver, a mode profile including the motor parameter, wherein the mode profile specifies a user-configurable operating parameter of the second power tool; and

control the second power tool to operate according to the user-configurable operating parameter.

8 . The communication system of claim 7 , wherein the user-configurable operating parameter includes at least one selected from a group consisting of a second motor parameter, a duration of a work light of the second power tool, an intensity of the work light of the second power tool, and combinations thereof.

9 . A method of operating a power tool, the method comprising:

receiving, with a first electronic processor of a first power tool, tool operation data recorded by a sensor of the first power tool during operation of a first motor of the first power tool;

transmitting, via a first transceiver of the first power tool, the tool operation data to a first external device, a server, or both the first external device and the server;

receiving, with a second electronic processor of a second power tool and via a second transceiver of the second power tool, a motor parameter from the first external device, a second external device, or the server, wherein the motor parameter is based on the tool operation data recorded by the sensor of the first power tool;

determining, with the second electronic processor, that an actuator of the second power tool has been actuated; and

controlling, with the second electronic processor, a second motor of the second power tool in accordance with the motor parameter in response to determining that the actuator has been actuated.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the motor parameter includes at least one of a group consisting of a motor speed, a motor torque, a motor power, a number of impact blows, a pulse width modulation (PWM) duty cycle indicative of an amount of actuation of the actuator of the second power tool, and combinations thereof; and

wherein the tool operation data includes at least one of a group consisting of a current level, the motor speed, a motor acceleration, a motor direction, the number of impact blows, a record of work that was performed by the first power tool, a duration of tool usage, and combinations thereof.

11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein controlling the second motor in accordance with the motor parameter includes controlling the second motor in accordance with the motor parameter regardless of whether a trigger activation signal indicative of an amount of actuation of the actuator matches the motor parameter.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the first power tool and the first external device are associated with a first user, and wherein the second power tool and the second external device are associated with a second user.

13 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the motor parameter includes a pre-recorded motor parameter recorded by the first power tool during the operation of the first motor of the first power tool; and
