Abstract

A vehicle includes a chassis, a body coupled to the chassis, and a thermal event monitoring system including a sampling element configured to sample an environmental condition associated with the vehicle, at least one processor, and at least one memory. The memory includes instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the processor, cause the processing circuit to receive one or more samples from the sampling element, determine, based on the one or more samples, a presence of a fire onboard the vehicle, and generate a navigational route for the vehicle to direct the vehicle to an alternate destination in response to determining the presence of the fire.

Claims (26)

1 . A vehicle comprising:

a chassis;

a body coupled to the chassis; and

a thermal event monitoring system comprising an image capture device configured to generate image capture data associated with the vehicle, and a processing circuit comprising at least one processor and at least one memory, the at least one memory having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the processing circuit to:

receive the image capture data;

determine, a presence of a fire onboard the vehicle by processing the image capture data to detect a flame; and

generate a navigational route for the vehicle to direct the vehicle to an alternate destination in response to determining the presence of the fire.

2 . The vehicle of claim 1 , further comprising a user interface, wherein the instructions further cause the processing circuit to provide the navigational route to an operator of the vehicle via the user interface.

3 . The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the processing circuit to transmit commands causing the vehicle to autonomously travel along the navigational route to the alternate destination.

4 . The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the processing circuit to transmit a GPS location of the vehicle to a system associated with an emergency response team in response to determining the presence of the fire.

5 . The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the processing circuit to transmit an alarm to an external fire suppression system at the alternate destination, the alarm causing the external fire suppression system to perform a fire suppressing action.

6 . The vehicle of claim 1 , further comprising a speaker, wherein the instructions further cause the processing circuit to transmit a command to the speaker to generate an audible alarm in response to determining the presence of the fire.

7 . The vehicle of claim 1 , further comprising one or more light sources, wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to transmit a command to the one or more light sources to generate a visual indication in response to determining the presence of the fire.

8 . A fleet management system for managing one or more vehicles, the fleet management system comprising:

one or more sensors integrated with a first vehicle of the one or more vehicles,

a computing device integrated with the first vehicle and configured to:

receive image capture data from the one or more sensors;

detect a fire onboard the first vehicle by processing the image capture data to detect a flame; and

in response to detecting the fire, transmit an alarm; and

an external fire suppression system remote from the first vehicle, the external fire suppression system configured to receive the alarm and, based on receiving the alarm, perform a fire suppressing action.

9 . The fleet management system of claim 8 , wherein the external fire suppression system is located in a garage storing the first vehicle.

10 . The fleet management system of claim 8 , wherein the external fire suppression system comprises a fire sprinkler, a gaseous agent dispenser, or a chemical agent dispenser.

11 . The fleet management system of claim 8 , wherein the one or more sensors includes at least one of an aspirating smoke detector, a resistance temperature detector, a heat detector, a flame detector, a thermal imaging device, or a photoelectric device.

12 . The fleet management system of claim 8 , wherein the computing device is configured to transmit an indication of the fire to a computer system of an emergency response team, the indication comprising a GPS location of the first vehicle.

13 . The fleet management system of claim 8 , wherein the computing device is configured to generate a navigational route for the first vehicle to direct the first vehicle to the external fire suppression system in response to detecting the fire.

14 . The fleet management system of claim 13 , wherein the computing device is configured to transmit commands causing the first vehicle to autonomously travel along the navigational route to the external fire suppression system.
