Toner material and method utilizing same
A toner particle adapted for use in electrostatic image formation, comprising a polymer and flakes of metal dispersed in the polymer.
1. A toner particle adapted for use in electrostatic image formation comprising:
a polymer, wherein the polymer is a low molecular weight ionomer; and
flakes of gold or silver dispersed in the polymer,
wherein the flakes of gold or silver have a dimension greater than 4 micrometers.
2. A toner particle according to claim 1 , wherein flakes of gold are dispersed in the polymer.
3. A toner particle to claim 1 , wherein flakes of silver are dispersed in the polymer.
4. A liquid toner comprising: a plurality of toner particles adapted for use in electrostatic image formation comprising; a polymer; and flakes of gold or silver dispersed in the polymer, wherein the flakes of gold or silver have a dimension greater than 4 micrometers; and a carrier liquid.
5. A liquid toner according to claim 4 , wherein flakes of gold are dispersed in the polymer.
6. A liquid toner according to claim 4 , wherein flakes of silver are dispersed in the polymer.
7. A method of printing utilizing a liquid toner according to claim 4 .
8. A method of printing utilizing a liquid toner according to claim 5 .
9. A method of printing utilizing a liquid toner according to claim 6 .
10. A liquid toner according to claim 4 wherein the particles have a median particle size of between 8.2 and 18.6 microns.
11. A toner particle according to claim 1 wherein the flakes of gold or silver have a dimension greater than 6 micrometers.
12. A toner particle according to claim 4 wherein the flakes of gold or silver have a dimension greater than 6 micrometers.
