Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of treating or preventing kidney disease in an animal subject including administering an effective amount of C-reactive protein to the animal subject. The kidney disease may be associated with systemic lupus erythematosus.

Claims (14)

1. A method of treating kidney disease associated with systemic lupus erythematosus in a human patient in need of treatment, comprising administering an effective amount of C-reactive protein to the patient to mitigate kidney disease associated with systemic lupus erythematosus.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the C-reactive protein is administered via subcutaneous injection.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the C-reactive protein is administered intravenously.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein said kidney disease is nephritis.

5. A method of treating kidney disease associated with proteinuria in a human patient in need of treatment, comprising administering an effective amount of C-reactive protein to the patient to mitigate kidney disease associated with proteinuria.

6. The method of claim 4 , wherein the C-reactive protein is administered via subcutaneous injection.

7. The method of claim 4 , wherein the C-reactive protein is administered intravenously.

8. A method of treating kidney disease associated with severe glomerulonephritis in an animal subject in need of treatment comprising administering an effective amount of C-reactive protein to mitigate kidney disease associated with severe glomerulonephritis.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the animal subject is a mammal.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the animal subject is a human.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the animal subject is a mouse.

12. The method of claim 8 , wherein the C-reactive protein is administered via subcutaneous injection.

13. The method of claim 8 , wherein the C-reactive protein is administered intravenously.

14. The method of claim 8 , wherein the C-reactive protein is administered via a transcutaneous medicator.
