Abstract

A window assembly cooperating with a window frame on a golf car includes a first window pane selectively coupled to the window frame. A second window pane is selectively coupled to the window frame and offset from the first window pane. A first pair of retaining members are arranged on the window frame in an installed position and movable between a retaining position wherein the retaining members retain the first window pane in an upright position and a release position wherein the retaining members are disengaged from the first window pane. Each of the first pair of retaining members are defined by a rigid frame having an integrally molded elastomeric body.

Claims (13)

1. A window assembly cooperating with a window frame on a golf car and having a first and a second window pane, the window assembly comprising:

a first pair of retaining members arranged on the window frame in an installed position and movable between a retaining position wherein the retaining members retain the first window pane in a collapsed position and a release position wherein the retaining members are disengaged from the first window pane, each retaining member defining an intermediate finger adapted to locate between the first and second window pane when the first window pane is moved to a collapsed position next to the second window pane, each retaining member further defining a hook portion adapted to engage and locate the first window pane against the respective intermediate finger in the collapsed position; and

wherein each of the first pair of retaining members are defined by a rigid frame having an integrally molded elastomeric body.

2. The window assembly of claim 1 wherein the window frame defines a pair of generally upright struts and wherein each rigid frame is configured to cooperatively mate with the respective struts in the installed position.

3. The window assembly of claim 2 wherein each rigid frame defines an integrally formed protrusion adapted to be received by respective apertures defined in the respective struts in the installed position.

4. The window assembly of claim 3 wherein each rigid frame generally defines a u-channel.

5. The window assembly of claim 2 wherein the elastomeric body is molded around an inboard face of the rigid frame thereby forming an elastomeric barrier in the installed position between the respective rigid frames and the respective struts.

6. The window assembly of claim 5 wherein the elastomeric body is molded around an outboard face of the rigid frame thereby forming an elastomeric barrier in the retaining position between the respective rigid frames and the second window pane.

7. The window assembly of claim 1 wherein each hook portion is defined by the elastomeric body.

8. The window assembly of claim 7 wherein each hook portion defines a ramp surface for directing the first window pane toward the retaining position.

9. The window assembly of claim 1 wherein each of the hook portions engage an outboard face of the first window pane in the collapsed position.

10. The window assembly of claim 1 wherein each of the retaining members define passages for locating laterally extending tabs defined on the second window pane.

11. The window assembly of claim 1 wherein the rigid frame comprises plastic.
