Abstract

The present invention is a dispenser adapted to be coupled to a fluid container. The dispenser comprises a dispensing head, an energy source, and a fluid pathway. The dispensing head includes a fluid pump, a motor adapted to power the pump, a trigger adapted to control the motor, and a nozzle orifice in fluid communication with a discharge end of the pump. The fluid pathway has one portion in fluid communication with an intake end of the pump and another portion inside the container.

Claims (25)

1. A dispenser adapted to be coupled to a container to dispense a substance in the container, the dispenser comprising:

a dispensing head comprising a pump, a motor for driving the pump, and a nozzle in fluid communication with a discharge end of the pump;

an energy source associated with the dispensing head and electrically coupled to the motor, wherein said energy source is generally adjacent to the container when the dispenser is coupled to a container;

a fluid flow path having a portion in fluid communication with an intake end of the pump and another portion in fluid communication with the container; and

a valve operably coupled with the fluid flow path at a location downstream of the pump,

wherein the valve comprises a valve stem element moveable in a valve body between (i) a flow position in which fluid can pass through the fluid flow path and (ii) a stop position in which the valve stem element prevents flow of fluid through the fluid flow path, the valve stem element being located in the fluid flow path.

2. The dispenser according to claim 1 , wherein the dispenser further comprises:

means adapted to control the motor.

3. The dispenser according to claim 2 , wherein the means adapted to control the motor comprises a circuit for braking the motor.

4. The dispenser according to claim 1 , wherein the dispenser further comprises:

a slide button coupled to the valve for moving the valve stem element between the stop position and the flow position.

5. The dispenser according to claim 4 , wherein:

the dispenser further comprises a trigger for actuating the dispenser, and

the slide button prevents actuation of the dispenser by the trigger when the valve stem element is in the stop position.

6. The dispenser according to claim 1 , wherein the dispenser further comprises:

a trigger coupled to the valve for moving the valve stem element in the valve body.

7. A dispenser adapted to be coupled to a container to dispense a substance in the container, the dispenser comprising:

a dispensing head comprising a pump, a motor for driving the pump, and a nozzle in fluid communication with a discharge end of the pump;

an energy source associated with the dispensing head and electrically coupled to the motor, wherein said energy source is generally adjacent to the container when the dispenser is coupled to a container;

a fluid flow path having a portion in fluid communication with an intake end of the pump and another portion in fluid communication with the container;

a valve operably coupled with the fluid flow path at a location downstream of the pump, the valve including a valve stem element moveable in a valve body between (i) a flow position in which fluid can pass through the fluid flow path and (ii) a stop position in which the valve stem element prevents flow of fluid through the fluid flow path;

a slide button coupled to the valve for moving the valve stem element between the stop position and the flow position; and

a trigger for actuating the dispenser,

wherein the slide button prevents actuation of the dispenser by the trigger when the valve stem element is in the stop position, and

wherein, when the valve stem element is in the stop position, the valve stem element is located in the fluid flow path.
