Abstract

The invention herein related to methods and compositions for treating nervous system disorders. The methods comprise peptides that bind to receptors important in disease progression, thus attenuating the disease.

Claims (4)

1. A method of treating a degenerative disorder of the nervous system, the method comprising administering to a mammalian subject in need thereof, a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising a peptide consisting of 19 amino acids and having at least 89% sequence identity with the peptide sequence YSMKKTTMKIIPFNRLTIG (SEQ ID NO: 1), wherein the degenerative disorder of the nervous system involves leakage of fibrinogen perivascularly in the brain.

2. A method according to claim 1 , wherein the peptide consists of the sequence YSMKKTTMKIIPFNRLTIG (SEQ ID NO: 1).

3. A method according to claim 1 , wherein the disorder is selected from the group consisting of multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, stroke and Alzheimer's Disease.

4. A method according to claim 1 , wherein the disorder is multiple sclerosis.
