Abstract

The present invention provides a spatial light modulator, comprising: a plurality of row lines each connected to a plurality of memory circuits; and a plurality of word lines and a plurality of plate lines connected to the memory circuits for selecting and controlling sets of the memory circuits connected to the selected row lines at pre-designated times for each of the row lines.

Claims (38)

1. A spatial light modulator, comprising:

a plurality of row lines each connected to a plurality of memory circuits; and

a plurality of word lines and a plurality of plate lines connected to said memory circuits for selecting and controlling sets of said memory circuits belonging to selected row lines at mutually different timings wherein said plate lines have a higher data transmission speed than the word lines.

2. A spatial light modulator, comprising:

a plurality of row lines each connected to a plurality of memory circuits; and

a plurality of word lines and a plurality of plate lines connected to said memory circuits for selecting and controlling sets of said memory circuits belonging to one of the selected row lines wherein

said plate lines have a higher data transmission speed than the word lines and the memory circuits belonging to the selected row lines are controlled by the word line and thereafter by the plate line.

3. A spatial light modulator, comprising:

a plurality of row lines each connected to a plurality of memory circuits; and

a plurality of word lines and a plurality of plate lines connected to memory circuits for selecting and controlling sets of the memory circuits belonging to one of the selected row lines wherein

the number of times of the plate line controlling the memory circuits belonging to the selected row lines during a period of one frame or one sub-frame is smaller than the number of times of the word line controlling the memory circuits belonging to the selected row lines.

4. A spatial light modulator, comprising:

a plurality of pixel units arranged as a pixel array along a vertical direction and a horizontal direction;

each of the pixel units comprises a memory circuit;

a plurality of row lines each connected to a plurality of said memory circuits in said pixel units along said vertical direction; and

a plurality of word lines and a plurality of plate lines connected to memory circuits for selecting and controlling sets of memory circuits belonging to one of the selected row lines, wherein

the plate line controls the memory circuits belonging to one of the selected row lines at least twice continuously during a period of one frame or one sub-frame.

5. A spatial light modulator, comprising:

a plurality of row lines each connected to a plurality of memory circuits; and

a plurality of word lines and a plurality of plate lines connected to memory circuits for selecting and controlling sets of memory circuits belonging to one of the selected row lines, wherein

the memory circuit belonging to one of the selected row lines are controlled by the plate line during an initial period of one frame or one sub-frame and then the memory circuits belonging to one of said selected row lines are controlled by the word line during a later period of the one frame or one sub-frame after the initial period of the one frame or one sub-frame.

6. A mirror array device, comprising:

a mirror element comprising an address electrode;

a memory circuit connected to the address electrode;

a bit line connected to said memory circuit for transmitting a first data signal to the address electrode;

a word line connected to said memory circuit for selecting the address electrode for transmitting the first data signal to the selected electrode; and

a plate line connected to memory circuit for transmitting a second data signal to the address electrode, wherein

the mirror element is controlled at least once by the second data signal transmitted from the plate line in a duration of time when the word line selects the memory circuit twice.

7. The mirror array device according to claim 6 , wherein:

the plate line transmitting said second data signal at a higher speed than a data transmission speed of transmitting the first data signal on the bit line.

8. A mirror array device, comprising:

a plurality of mirror elements each having an address electrode for receiving a control signal to control each of the mirror elements;

first set of voltage application circuits each applies a first voltage on one of the address electrodes;

second set of voltage application circuits each applies a second voltage on one of the address electrodes, wherein one of the second voltage application circuits changes the second voltage after the first voltage application circuit is cut off from the address electrode.

9. The mirror array device according to claim 8 , further comprising:

a plurality of row lines each connected to a plurality of memory circuits, and

the second voltage application circuits transmitting a selection signal for selecting the mirror elements connected to a selected row line and connecting the selected mirror elements of the selected row line to the first voltage application circuits, wherein

the second voltage application circuit controls all the mirror elements connected to the selected row line by applying the selection signal transmitted from the second voltage application circuits.
