Abstract

The present invention provides compounds that inhibit the activity of plasma kallikrein (PK) and methods of preventing and treating the formation of thrombin during or after a PK dependent disease or condition, for example, after fibrinolysis treatment.

Claims (13)

1. A compound having the formula:

and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.

2. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound of claim 1 , in combination with one or more pharmaceutical excipients.

3. A method of treating a plasma kallikrein dependent disease or condition in a subject, having a disease or condition selected from the group consisting of stroke, inflammation, pain, acute myocardial infarction, deep vein thromobosis, post fibrinolytic treatment condition, angina, angioedema, sepsis, arthritis, blood loss during cardiopulmonary bypass, inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, retinopathy, proliferative retinopathy, neuropathy, increased blood pressure, brain edema, increased albumin excretion, macroalbuminuria and nephropathy, said method comprising administering to said subject the compound of claim 1 .

A method of treating a plasma kallikrein dependent disease or condition in a subject, having a disease or condition selected from the group consisting of stroke, inflammation, pain, acute myocardial infarction, deep vein thromobosis, post fibrinolytic treatment condition, angina, angioedema, sepsis, arthritis, blood loss during cardiopulmonary bypass, inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, retinopathy, proliferative retinopathy, neuropathy, increased blood pressure, brain edema, increased albumin excretion, macroalbuminuria and nephropathy, said method comprising administering to said subject the pharmaceutical composition of claim 2 .

5. A method of claim 3 , wherein the route of administration is by injection.

6. A method of claim 3 , wherein the compound is administered intravenously.

7. A method of claim 3 , wherein the compound is administered orally.

8. A method of claim 3 , wherein the compound is administered topically.

9. A method of claim 3 , wherein the compound is administered intradermally.

10. A method of claim 3 , wherein the compound is administered intramuscularly.

11. A method of claim 3 , wherein the compound is administered intraperitoneally.

12. A method of claim 3 , wherein the compound is administered parenterally.
