Topical palmitoyl glutathione formulations
A topical composition for application to aging skin, comprising an effective amount of S-acyl glutathione derivative of formula (I) wherein R 1 consists of an unsaturated or saturated C 16 group and R 2 is a hydrogen, aliphatic or aromatic acyl group; and a dermatologically acceptable carrier. Preferred compositions comprise about 1.0% to about 3.0% by weight of S-palmitoyl glutathione.
1. A topical composition for application to aging skin, comprising:
about 0.1% to about 5% by weight of S-palmitoyl glutathione of formula (I)
and a dermatologically acceptable water-based carrier.
2. The topical composition of claim 1 , wherein the S-palmitoyl glutathione is present from about 1.0% to about 3.0% by weight.

The topical composition of claim 1 , further comprising one or more additional ingredients selected from the group consisting of: ascorbic acid and ascorbic acid derivatives, lipoic acid, neuropeptides, α-hydroxy acids, salts of magnesium, zinc and copper, tocotrienols, tocotrienol derivatives, and vitamin E compositions enriched with tocotrienols or tocotrienol derivatives, and mixtures thereof.
4. The topical composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises a cream.
5. A topical composition for application to aging skin comprising:
about 1.0% to about 3.0% by weight of S-palmitoyl glutathione;
about 1.5% to about 15% by weight of at least one fatty acid derivative of stearic acid;
about 1.0% to 5.0% by weight of isopropyl palmitate; and
water.
6. The topical composition of claim 1 , wherein carrier comprises an oil in water emulsion.
7. The topical composition of claim 6 , wherein the carrier comprises fatty acid derivatives of stearic acid and water.
8. A topical composition for application to aging skin, comprising:
about 0.1% to about 5% by weight of S-palmitoyl glutathione of formula (I)
and a dermatologically acceptable oil in water emulsion.
9. The topical composition of claim 8 , wherein the oil in water emulsion comprises fatty acid derivatives of stearic acid and water.
